The more people that know of Kevin and Charlene's plight, the better. Lets hope the 10,000 signatures will be reached quickly.

A SWINDON man imprisoned in The Philippines for six years for a crime he says he didn’t commit has set up a parliamentary petition to appeal for his release.

Kevin Taylor and his Filipino wife Charlene were jailed for 12 years in 2014 for running an alleged employment scam, they had already spent five years on remand.

Now, the father-of-three from Stratton has written to The Adver from his cell in the medium security prison, Camp Sampaguita, appealing for renewed support to secure his release.
He wrote: “Charlene and I are still in prison and have barely seen our children since 2009. I am almost blind due to malnourishment but I’m hoping for early release on clemency grounds.

“The situation is very tense here at the moment due to over the top searches by guards and it’s affecting everyone.

There is no link to the petition in the news article.

Even if there was a link, the petition cannot yet be signed as it is "being checked".

Oh my God. I read the whole thread and I am shocked and sickened. I certainly didn't think of the Philippines as being always a paragon of anything legal, but this takes the biscuit and stomps on it.

What is the MP doing about this these days?

Guilty or (most probably) not, these people should be freed as they surely have served their time on remand and the sentence is surely excessive. The Philippine government should just deport them as a family, ban them from ph and, yes, the UK system should treat this as an exceptional circumstance and LOOK AFTER THEM.

They have suffered enough. The suffering will not end with freedom. It serves nobody's purpose to keep them in jail.

The British government couldn't care less about its citizens abroad..They do NOT represent us in any way.
Kevin Taylor has been treated abysmally by the Filipino justice system and he was found guilty only on a technicality after all of the original complainants had dropped their "complaints"..
The British embassy are only a visa fee collection agency and have no interest in assisting people like Kevin Taylor..
The only thing they are good at is attending charity lunches/dinners , splurging themselves on expensive champagne along with their wealthy and corrupt hosts and living in very expensive private condominiums in Makati...
They do even not have the authority to issue or renew its own citizens a British passport ..Need I go on?

Any British citizen that chooses to live abroad better get one thing straight..You are on your own.

I think a rewrite would help, stating aims of the petition.

I agree with your wider point.

But so far, very little publicity for this case has been drummed up. It should be a story at NATIONAL level. Cameron and Corbyn should have to deal with this.

    Contact us

If there is a story you would like Panorama to investigate then you can e-mail or write to us.

Please be clear and concise as to the nature of the information you have and mark the title of the e-mail as "confidential".

Understandably some of you might prefer to remain anonymous. If that is the case then please write "In Confidence" in the subject heading of an e-mail or in any correspondence you may want to send us.

You can also contact us if you have fresh information that could assist a Panorama investigation.

Because of the number of e-mails we receive we are unable to read or reply to all of them individually. If however we think the information you have sent us would make a good story but is not suitable for Panorama, with your permission, we may forward it to a more relevant part of the BBC .

    Our e-mail address is: panorama.reply@bbc.co.uk

Our postal address is: BBC Panorama, Zone D, 4th Floor, BBC Broadcasting House, Portland Place, London, UK, W1A 1AA

Ive been banging this drum along with a few others for 6 years.
We were of very little help to him legally speaking but many good and caring people from all over the world have visited him in **** hole dungeons like San Mateo etc because of a simple Yahoo group that we started back then.. This very forum has had fund drives and raised cash from its generous members which has been a huge help and support to Kevins elderly parents ....
I`ll have a look see what files I have that might help you with the story, timeline and facts to send them if you wish.
Glad someone else wants to grab the baton and run with it but I warn you..It can be a very tiring, dissapointing and frustrating journey.

    I'm a Derby fan. Nuff said. :)

I am sure people have done their best to support the Taylors. Money and friendly faces are always extremely helpful.

I don't get why there hasn't been a step up from local media involvement to national media. In my opinion, it's a national story. Have there been any serious and concerted attempts on this front by anyone at any point?

Many people decided against world/British media in case it angered the Filipino courts or made local Politicians lose face..

Here`s a link to Kevins letters after the NBI locked him up at the military base..
Must admit, brought a tear to my eyes after reading those back then..

There is always that nagging little feeling that we may be monitored, and strong views and feelings on certain subjects may incur in some unwanted attention on arrival at the airport...

Ive never seen those before. You can feel somewhat detached from all the goings on in Kevin and Charlenes case purely through not having such information but reading those does bring home how real it is and that this could happen to any body. It is indeed terrible.
