No visa required as you are just "transiting" Dubai. T-shirt, shorts & flip-flops. Ive only transited MNL but I'm sure others will advise where to visit in the locality of Manila.

While in Corregidor, you can join the search for McArthurs lead lined boxes of gold..
Our polish friend Janarius knows all about it......;)

No Visa required to transit Dubai - provided you hold a British Passport.

You don't say where you plan to stay in Manila but I would pack mostly smart casual clothes. It will be quite hot so take clothes made from natural fibres - cotton or linen. No "wife-beater" shirts, string vests on show, please, and you would be well advised not to wear anything with a controversial slogan - particularly of a political nature or likely to cause offence. To prevent mosquito bites, wear long pants, socks and long-sleeved shirts from sundown onwards and in the early morning. Wide brim hats whilst out and about, high factor sunblock and mosquito repellent.

My wife, who Knows About These Things, tells me that:

    1. If wearing short sleeves, polo shirts rather than T shirts, in single colours are favoured.

    2. If you want to wear shorts, select the "cargo" type, as short shorts for blokes are "out".

    3. Never be seen dead in khaki.

    4. Blue and green should never be seen, etc.

Dammit... better empty out my suitcase then.

I'll be going via the same route in early November... til after Xmas.:like:

    Bought the (Emirates) ticket today.

Don't forget travel insurance... only a few quid more for an annual policy, if you're plannng on more than one trip out of the UK.

If you happen to be travelling with offspring, do not allow them to take any form of toy gun, not even a water pistol, not even in your checked baggage which is checked through, into Dubai.

Don't ask me why I know that...

My usual advise, do not dress up like a millionaire. Enjoy your stay & be safe!

Since you'll be staying in Manila, maybe visit Intramuros.

Yes, ideally as part of one of Carlos Celdran's tour groups- you will get more out of it.

I can't imagine spending two weeks in manila. You might want to book some daytrips someplace to get away from the city.

Any good hotel will help you out with daytrips. I know that the Manila Peninsula and the Ascott Makati both can arrange day trips and they are both good quality hotels.

Corregidor Island is a nice day trip from Manila and to stay overnight there is even better. Highly recommend that.

In Manila I would recommend visiting intramuros (it's an old fort), Manila Cathedral is also right nearby, and Quiapo church with the black Nazarene in it is nearby too.

If you have kids with you then there's also a sea life centre in manila that isn't bad, and an amusement park called 'star city' which is pretty tame but OK for little ones. The zoo has some pretty abused looking animals but it might be worth a visit. You can also find a laser quest place in some mall (I forget the name).

There are a number of other things to look at, like the market at divisoria for example, but they are more along the lines of 'leave your wallet at home and watch out for thieves' experiences.

A number of good malls to visit. The Glorietta mall in Makati is very large and very good. The Mall of Asia is also good and has an ice rink and an IMAX cinema. SM north EDSA is also ok.
