I was going to go with Emirates just for the 30kg allowance, but found Etihad was only £350 return so they got my money:)

You're a local lad Jim, as you know we are spoiled
    Is that from Manchester Jim?

We have plenty of choices and good airlines now that can get us from Manchester to Manila, Singapore airlines, Cathay, Emirates and Etihad amongst other lesser airlines.

Usually either Etihad or Emirates for me.

I also wanted the 30KG baggage allowance last month when I flew out with Emirates (from Manchester), as I was taking a lot of stuff... including a coffee table. lol
My ticket was still only around the £450 mark after claiming a few miles.

Check the price of extra baggage weight per kilo. Frightening.

I'm just shopping for my ticket for the next trip in about 3 months. It looks like it will be with Emirates again, but to Clark... as I head up to our place in Pangasinan.

Emirates or Etihad.. recently went with the latter just for the 2-23kg baggage allowance. :D

Was checking into Emirates for Lon-Manila for my daughters visit early next year. I can get the return fare for aprox GPP 490, routing via Dubai. Thats more or less the same fare I have to pay for Dubai - Manila return. So effectively, the Lon - Dubai is free. Never understood how airlines base their fare structure.

I agree, I used to fly from Man to Dubai frequently and from Man to Manila frequently and as you say there is little or no difference in cost, and like you it baffles me.

Best I can find for Emirates this evening (Manchester to Clark) is £450, all inclusive, March/early April using Emirates website... so hovering over the pay button. I prefer dealing with them direct.
I really would have liked an Easter break there, but prices shoot up for that period, understandably.

Yes you can get to Manila for 350 quid or so with the the Chinese airlines, but quoted journey times (37-40 hours) are horrendous.

I'll take a look at Etihad again. Already flown with them couple of times this year. They've just sent me a silver membership card.... (but didn't appear among the cheapest on Skyscanner this evening. hmm).

Ah well, I was wanting to try Clark this time anyway, so it looks like Emirates again. :like:

You need to take note that emirates destination clark has two stops - dubai and then cebu. The cebu stop is just 1.5 hrs to unload cebu bound passengers and pick up cebu-dubai passenger. You stay inside the aircraft and wait.

I'm going to Manila from Heathrow on 24 January - coming back 2 weeks later. Price was an amazing £352 return. I booked with Omega online and flying with BA and Qatar. For the reasons mentioned above I would have preferred to book direct with airlines but I couldn't get anywhere near that price.

There are stopovers in Doha - anyone used that airport?

The airport at Doha is not very good I'm afraid, read the reviews, I remember moaning about it to my wife, doesn't matter though as long as you are en route to somewhere better, I just hope you don't have to spend too long there in transit.

Used it May this year but they are still transferring stuff (there were a few areas closed off for refurbishment) but i guess they have completed that phase now so you should expect almost the same level near to dubai or abu dhabi.

(Remember that doha is trying to compete with dubai and abu dhabi for passengers)
