I'm a British guy, I just want to ask is there any documents I need to get from the uk befor I fly out to marry partner?

I've read on some forums there and on other I don't.

As it stood I thought I just need my birth certificate, apply for the marriage one from the British embassy in Manila. Any help here please on what documents I need and if I can get them all when I'm in the Philippines?

I would always carry my birth certificate and 2 means of identification with my photo on it, if you have been divorced you need your divorce papers absolute with the court seal on it, if widowed then the death certificate, and a proof of address

All the documents required by the British partner are listed on the Manila British Embassy website...including the (downloadable) forms.

Might be a good idea to call them to check that the requirements haven't changed though.

You don't want to go all that way only to discover that what is on te website is out of date.

They are not exactly efficient at informing people of any changes in requirements.

Hi... i got married in the philippines and i just had to get a letter.from the embassy to certify i was ok to marry my philippino fiance..... i had to make the appointment before you go.... maie sure you take cash to pay for it as they wont take card payments...... also just check on the website what documents you need to take and fill the form. Better if you type it and with the correct information otherwise they will ask you to do it again!!!!

I was lucky to take 2 copies with me and notice a typing error in it.... so we were lucky!

How long ago was that? From April this year British Embassy no longer issues that NOC letter. Instead there is a general letter on their website in Adobe format, stating that there are no objections to a British national marrying a foreign national, which can be downloaded and printed. At least that is the case with the embassy in Dubai.

... And that is why I always suggest that members contact the Embassy for the latest info'. :like:

That goes for settlement and visit visa forms too.

One word of warning about the Philippine Embassy in London whilst we are on the subject of current information, our good friend @Maharg had a problem last week due to the Embassy not keeping its website up to date, I will let Graham post and explain, I'm sure another moan about what happened will make him feel better :)

It would but i am using a phone and it is too much effort!!

Suffice to say, yes, contact the embassy to check requirements. Don't rely on them being up to date.

Incidentally, I see on another thread that you now need a letter of good character from someone in authority if marrying in Phils.

We married in May 2016. And yes is a different process now. I printed that letter twice with the right information and took with me.... they checked all details and then they stamped that letter and that is what you need to get married in the Philippines....

Well, that's what I had to do in September 2015.... as well as take along all the supporting documents requested by the embassy of course. I take it you haven't looked at their website yet... where the exact (and up to date) requirements are listed ?

    Hello, @Jhenina1229.

Try booking it from your laptop or desktop. It might be you're using your mobile or tablet, or their site is down. If it doesn't work, I don't know what the problem is.
