I don't know about chewing gum companies being made to pay for the clean up of our streets, I think chewing gum should be banned in the UK as it is in other countries.

    Its a disgusting mess!

Only this morning I was moaning to my wife about the amount of chewing gum stuck to the pavement in the shopping centre, what kind of animal spits their chewing gum out on the street?

more of a problem where i live--is dog poo. a few people walk their dogs--stand there while the dog does what is natural--then walk away leaving it for someone else to tread in. quite often--young kids on their way to school. what kind of person does that ? its a real issue here.

I think its a real issue everywhere in the UK, I often walk around the local park on a daily basis with the wife and it annoys me greatly when I see dogs fouling the park and the owner not picking it up fully aware that the park is frequented by kids.

I watched a programme on TV a while back where they were taking a sample of the dog poo that had been left in parks to get a DNA sample to identify the dog, bit extreme I thought :)

Its a difficult one to police for sure, solely relies on the good will of responsible dog owners in the main.

Many years ago I remember seeing a little kid sitting in the middle of the pavement playing with his little toy truck and a big sloppy dog turd that had recently been deposited in the middle of the pavement.

He was covered in it, "happy as a pig in ****", but I doubt his parents were happy when they found him.

Again, back to my childhood in Australia. I was a bit of a brainbox, and if you know your Simpson's characters, uncomfortably similar to Martin Prince. I had a splendid collection of three fossils and was always eager to discover more to add to my collection.

My cousin, (who I secretly believe to have been the inspiration for Bart Simpson himself) was less impressed with scratchy little fossils of long-dead fish. I of course took it upon myself to enlighten him as to the wonderful world of fossils.

Picking up a stone, I proclaimed grandly that this could be millions of years old, and hold within it the secrets of evolution.
He glanced at it and said, deadpan; "Doubt it."
"Why not?" said I, holding it to the sunlight to inspect its beauty.
"Cos it's dogsh1t." he replied, just as coolly.

Whatever happened to white dogsh1t? It was everywhere when I was a kid.

I think the white dogshit is down to calcium in the diet which is lacking in this day an age due to processed dog food. If you remember years back a lot of people used to feed their dogs on scraps and get bones for their dogs to chomp on from the butchers, that doesn't happen nowadays.

We do cover a vast array of subjects here on the forum don't we :)
