Hi all, is there any Filipino Community in Lanarkshire, Scotland? I live along Carnwath Road and have not heard or known any Filipinos living nearby. Missing Filipino crowd, parties and food.
Hi @Boots, im in shawlands area of glasgow. I have yet to meet a fellow pinay since i have arrived here, although i've heard from acquaintances that they meet fellow pinays at churches (unforunately, not catholic ). Which part of lanarkshire are you? Googled the street, it looks like you are farther than i thought (closer to livingston?).
Your best shot is to visit Catholic church in your area if there is one. I was in the bank yesterday and met a nice lady who told me that her daughters classmate is a Filipino and she said there is a small Filipino community in my area which surprised me really but delighted as well. I'll try and visit the church some time and hopefully meet my kababayans.
Hi! I've been trying to find a Catholic Church here but so unfortunate, there is none. Oh well, I will try harder to find pinoys here
Of course. I think pinoys are scattered over UK. There is another lady who is also member of the forum who is at west kilbride area but i havent met her as well.
Visa permitting my beloved Kris (@inaroiles ) will arrive in Scotland in June. I stay a few miles south of Edinburgh but would be happy to drive her to hook up with her compatriots.
Hi David -- thanks for message. Good news indeed - I'm thinking the Filipino community in the East of Scotland will be relatively small but maybe I'm mistaken. Either way I'm sure Kris ( @inaroiles ) would appreciate the opportunity of meeting up with fellow Filipinos when she arrives. We're still waiting (impatiently!) for settlement visas for Kris and her lad. May I ask how old your wife is - Kris is 35? Gerry
Thanks David -- you look a lovely couple together. Hopefully it won't be too long before Kris is inhaling our clean, fresh, Scottish air! Beautiful morning here in Penicuik - I may have to mow the lawn!! All the best. Gerry
Is she in edinburgh currently? We were in edinburgh last weekend and heading back there for the edinburgh marathon to support my brother-in-law on his first full marathon.
