look at these questions!!!! I'm English and I dont know these how the hell is my filipina wife supposed to????? When was Emmeline Pankhurst born? How many volunteers work for the National Trust? What was the population of the UK in 1851? The line ‘a rose by any other name’ belongs to which of the following plays or poems written by William Shakespeare? How can you visit the Northern Ireland Assembly (choose TWO options)? How many Russian and Polish Jews came to Britain to escape prosecution between 1870 and 1914? are the people that compose these 'tests' for REAL!!!!!! the woman will have lived here for five years not grown up here and went to primary then secondary school and college here FFS!!!!
She will pass, just a case of buying the book / app / online test questions, whichever she finds best and then practice, practice, practice. My asawa took the test a few months ago and she was only in the test centre for 10 minutes or so. Parrot fashion is the order of the day but there are one or two questions with similar dates so she has to be verbatim. Good luck Oh make sure they are the official book/app or whatever so that she is revising the correct Q&A's
I'd worry about your settlement visa first if I was you, your missus will not have to bother with the test for a few years yet, it has to be passed before you apply for the ILR As HaloHalo says, the missus can just learn all that parrot fashion to pass the test, I know its a load of nonsense but its another hoop our wives have to jump through.
They should ask questions about British food, Real ale, The Royal Family, Sports, Football, Fox hunting, Pet ferrets, and all the other things that make being British such a winner.
If only the Royal Family could go the same way as fox hunting Dave! I wasn't aware ferrets were quintessentially British - cute little critters with razor-like teeth! Gerry
Where did those questions come from? I'm not sure you'd get any of those in the test. It's not so hard. You have to read the book because it is questions on that. But it is muti choice and just takes a bit of study. It!s not so bad. My wife was in and out in 10 minutes.
It has its benefits too. We were watching a quiz show the other day and one of the questions was 'who was the mother on Edward VI?' 'Jane Seymour,' says the missus. Spot on! I do feel the test should be for citizenship rather than ILR, but it's not a bad thing to have to do.
