He was one of the best if not the best presenter of Blue Peter all the daredevil stuff he did H&S wouldnt allow it today, always struck me as a bit of a joker of the trio Noakes, Purves and Singleton.

I always enjoyed the line up with Noakes, Singleton and Pervis, a well balanced team that had their own parts to play to keep the kids happy.

I wonder if they have any similar kids programmes on today, I doubt whether todays kids would be interested in a Blue Peter type programme?

Blue Peter is, I am reliably assured by my older son who started watching a few months ago, still being broadcast but moved from BBC1 to CBBC. Its studio also moved from London to Salford.

Right, I have deleted CBBC from my channel list so that explains that :)

Programmes I always looked forward to were Blue Peter, Tomorrows world and the World at War.

Yes, all good programmes, I also enjoyed watching Magpie which was ITVs equivalent of Blue Peter.

Tomorrows World was always interesting, presented really well by Raymond Baxter in our young days :)

Laurence Oliver's narration of World at War was poignant, second to none.
