Yeah, Port Aventura is in Salou, had so much fun there :like: I particularly like going on their roller coaster rides and they even have Ferrari Land  I'm pretty sure your family will enjoy having their summer break in Spain :)

What’s Ferrari Land like? It wasn’t there the last time I went (over a decade ago). Ferrari themed no doubt but how does that translate into a theme park?

How long were you in Spain for @ms.quickwitted_10 - you seemed to cover a lot of ground?

They have different Ferrari themed rides and attractions. You can go on their race tracks where it almost felt like you’re driving F1 (there’s also pit stops and simulators)

They also pay tribute to Italy where it all began, its founder Enzo and the inspiration behind those ridiculously expensive cars. There’s popular dances and acrobatics show for additional entertainment purposes :)

You can either book combined tickets to have access to all of their parks or simply pay for visiting one park. They have 3 theme parks: Port Aventura, Ferrari Land and Caribe Aquatic. But when we went there two weeks ago, Caribe Aquatic was closed and only operates during summer. So yeah, your family will probably enjoy going on those 3 theme parks during summer (either for a day or two) :D

Thanks @Sanders although it wasn’t that long (at least for me) I still even wanna go further south to Seville and Granada (but there’s just too much to do for only 3 weeks of spring break):D

Managed to stay at MH apartment (apparently it’s like a thing over there, like an exclusive tourist apartments in Barcelona). It was convenient because it’s quite near to Plaça de Catalunya and accessible to any public transport. I just didn’t like the fact that there isn’t any Uber in Spain  So you can either go by taxi or metro trains

Then stayed at Hotel Hesperia Madrid (15-minute walk to Real Madrid’s stadium) it was really nice, the rooms were comfy & cozy :) their breakfast buffet has many choices of international cuisine and the staff were all amiable and accommodating :like: I love coming back (after being gone for the entire busy day outside) with my bed all tidied up with such a clean scent and they actually leave a friendly quote with the weather forecast :cat:

We are aiming for Caribe Aquatic and Port Aventura. I was curious about the Ferrari Land. Thanks.

We used the Metro a lot. Same in Paris. I used to travel to work in London so am used to the underground systems.

Okay. 3 weeks is a nice chunk of time. I can see now how you covered everything.

Perhaps your family might also fancy visiting one of the oldest amusement park in the world— Tibidabo ;)

I like how a simple tram (popularly known as “Tramvia Blau”) and then a funicular railway will take passengers up the mountain and voilà, you’ll be overwhelmed to see that an amusement park awaits you at the top  I like the simple journey up through the mountain's forests and to the summit, catching a glimpse of the city. Your family will certainly enjoy the best views overlooking Barcelona :D

I was personally delighted when I went on L'Embruixabruixes aerial railway, Diavolo and Muntanya Russa :)

I didn’t know about that - Tibidabo. But did visit Montserrat which is also up in the hills. I seem to recall a funiculaire going to the top. Bit like heading up to the Sacre Couer in Paris.

Then its a question that of where to go next, that’s a bit different. I have not been to Rome yet or Athens.

I guess we just got used to utilizing Uber (or occasionally the black taxi) whilst roaming around the busy streets of London. Didn't get a chance to try their underground system, since we stayed at Park Plaza Westminster Bridge hotel  So most of the time, those popular tourist spots like London Eye, Big Ben, Houses of Parliament, etc... were just walking distance from the hotel. Hop on Hop off buses were also convenient for tourists. :)

Subsequently when I was in Paris last December, we stayed at Marriott’s Village d’Ile-de-France (they offer shuttle bus service) and then after 5 days, we moved closer to the city and stayed at Hotel du Collectionneur ;) so yeah, once again we managed to roam around using Uber or taxi, never tried their metro as well :D

Uber (apparently) doesn't operate in Spain... so taxi, metro, train were nonetheless convenient :like:

Yeah, used hop on hop and hop off bus in Paris. That was a first for me.

Likewise, I think for my next trip... I fancy going to Germany, Ireland or Italy (whichever comes first) :D

But I reckon, that will have to wait  since I'll probably go home first. I might spend the summer break at my home country and will try to visit those wondrous islands of Palawan :like:

I tried it too in Paris... when we have a free day (without any booked/prior itinerary) :) Hop on Hop off isn't too bad after all :D

Before we go to Salou in July we have a brief holiday lined up in Peppa Pig World :D
down in the south of England. A theme park for 5 year old girls.

    Dubbed for the Philippines:

Aww, so cute, they’ll surely have the best time in Peppa Pig World :p:D

En passant, please don’t make me jealous of not having those sweet&playful toddlers to have fun and travel with :cat:

My partner has a relative in Bilbao. While we were in Paris, they were visiting Lourdes in south western France.

But am trying to persuade my partner to pay a visit to Fatima in more northern Portugal. It’s such a nice region too.

    I guess so…

It’s ironic to see how my "somewhat conservative" upbringing had taken its toll on me :D

Although, I started dating right out of high school and while still studying in uni… my strict dad was very particular in safeguarding his daughter and would always make sure to pick me up even before the mere thought of dusk or me spending a late night at my ex-boyfriend's house (who coincidentally just lives 15 minutes away from our house) I can faintly remember how he purposely made a loud honk (every darn time) to make sure everybody notices his arrival, rattle my ex, and give me just enough time to pack my scattered books and handbag :geek:

I also blame my close cousins who were knocked up (as blatantly as it may seem) during those times, even before they could reach the age of 20… the spread of that infamous family news had become an ongoing topic at the dinner table, my dad being so anxious to reprimand me and for me to bear in mind not to go "too easy"

So now that I’m on my early 30’s, they’ve been wishing (and bugging) to have an “apo”:D
