Some people are just damned thoughtless and selfish... everywhere in the world. Pavements are for pedestrians.

Wing mirrors can be replaced. Childrens' lives can't.

I agree, when you see women with prams having to go roadside to get round its time to ban it. There's no point in bringing tape measures out, just ban it.

I wonder what will be next after the roadside clearance programme?

I think there is a bit of a push on for dedicated bus lanes....

My last and only parking ticket was in 1976 for my motorcycle, can't remember how much it was :)

Looks like they are trying to close the provincial bus terminals with the new "nose in,nose out policy" for starters.. New terminals will be outside of city with shuttle service to get passengers there.

Ah. So there is a concerted effort to improve traffic conditions.

    Yes....let's punish the poor.

As in this country, it is the enormous increase in private cars and light commercial (white van man) vehicles, usually with one occupant, that is causing most of the congestion on the roads... IMHO.

    Pavement parking

A nationwide pavement parking ban has been proposed in the UK, which could see drivers flouting the rule land a £70 fine.

The Department of Transport is considering to overhaul the law to make roads more accessible for pedestrians with pushchairs or in wheelchairs.

Currently, pavement parking is only illegal in London and has been since 1974.

Under the new laws, it could become illegal to park on the pavement, unless the car has been granted explicit permission, across the country.”

.... And of course they're making 'cars' bigger and bigger for roads that are NOT getting any bigger.

Every man, woman and their dog now seemingly needing a mammoth 4wd for their supermarket and school run.

How much do the tyres alone cost on those things ? I thought we were supposed to be conserving resources. :erm:

Give me a little classic Mini any day.

Far too much of this keeping up with the Joneses nonsense now... mostly on borrowed money.

    I'm not impressed.

From the same guy... same guy that pulled together the video of the tour of Intramuros in an EV.

They are picking up on bikers without helmets, expired licenses and customised tricycles.

People buy SUV's because they can easily move the whole family.
Minis are not very useful in this regard.
