Clarification on HR letter

    Hi all,

I have indeed read the various posts asking similar questions, but everyone's situation is always slightly different.

I am just in the process of asking my HR dept to write my employment status letter (as a sponsor for my fiancee's settlement (fiance) visa application).

I am asking them to include:
    • My full name
    • My employee number
    • My employment status (i.e.: full-time)
    • My job title
    • My department
    • My current annual salary
    • My starting date
    (did I miss anything?)
I just want to clarify, that, as my salary increased slightly during the 6 month period which my payslips cover, should I ask my HR dept to explain this?

My salary was already significantly above the requirement, so one side of me thinks it's irrelevant to explain this. On the other hand, the ECO might want an explanation as to the salary change if they scrutinise the figures closely enough?

I want to avoid confusion by over-explaining things unnecessarily.

    What are your thoughts?

    Thank you!

Oh, and my HR dept have asked who they should address the letter to.
Should "To whom it may concern" suffice, or would "To the Entry Control Officer" be more appropriate?

I fully understand your concern over getting the finer details of your application and evidence right first time @thingymejig2.
The UKVI guidelines - and their lack of any meaningful way to contact them for clarification - are absolutely woeful (and deliberately so, IMO).
For what it's worth, I don't believe UKVI are remotely interested in how much above the Minimum Income level (£18,600) the sponsor earns during the relevant period, so an increase in income level is irrelevant. A fluctuation below the required level of income would be a different matter - you would need to explain, and prove, an average above the Minimum Income requirement for the period in question, if that were the case...

    Good luck.

    Okay thank you :)

I will ask HR not to mention the salary change then and just advise my current annual salary.

They've offered to provide a copy of my contract (2 pages), but I've opted not to include that as I think it's just additional information the ECO's wouldn't care for (like what benefits I have, my Saturday rotation, etc etc). Did I choose correctly?

I know you are experiencing delays and and lack of clarification on your application and I hope it will be resolved for you soon, but for the people who are asking questions on help with their application I feel some of your answers are not helpful to them but more about voicing your displeasure in the visa system.
Don’t you think it’s better to try and give positive advise if people are asking for advice rather than the systemic contempt for the system because of your application delays.

    - Seems pretty positive advice to me... and from his reply, @thingymejig2 thought so too.

So If they are not interested everyone should just state they earn more than £18,600. And then let the Ukvi figure out what they actually earn, Rather than make the application as easy and straightforward for them to process.
Maybe that’s why some applications are taking longer or not classed as straightforward as the Ukvi are having to chase around looking for the all the details they require to process the application.

I think its up to people to pick from the advice given and make their own decisions. @UKDJ has offered a great deal of incite to people so to suddenly appear from the shadows and citique one comment offering nothing in return before or since is in my opinion, harsh. Next time someone asks for help think on about your own contributions before finding fault in others. His point was specific to a question about whether it was necessary to highlight an interim salary rise even though the salary was already above the threshold. It was in my opinion good advice.

Read in the context of the whole pos, the original post and the answer its very clear. The UKVI are not interested in changes when the amount is above the level which was the question asked. Also, the advice was actually taken as the respondent decided not to mention the salary change. I cannot understand why people find issue with that exchange. I assume you must be a very good friend or something to Stupot because it seems to be daft crusade to go on otherwise. I await my grammar marks with interest

That's because you and UKDJ see this in the context of applications already submitted. It should come as no surprise that the earnings threshold is under review and could well be increased in order to reduce the number of applicants and count towards satisfying the government's pledge to slash immigration. (Note that the government's White Papoer on Brexit, published a couple of hours ago, makes it quite clear that May repeatedly lied to Parliament and to the country: freedom of movement will continue post-Brexit - well, for EU27 citizens, not for Brits). By analysing the sponsors' salaries, it is easier to determine at what level a new threshold will be in order to reduce numbers by (say) ten thousand - or by what amount appears to be politically-expedient.

The only context I was looking at was the question asked and the answer given. Nothing more complex or sinister than that. How that relates to your issues on Brexit and salary limits is frankly lost on me. The data given will show the sponsor's current salary. The data is there. In the context of the discussion, no one said that we only prove that its over £18,600, just that there is no need to refer to a salary change. You may well be correct about sponsor earnings, it is a way of reducing immigration if there is a large numnber of applications that are within a couple of grand of the threshold. That has nothing to do with the OP and UKDJ's answer though.

That only leaves one other option then....
