The Philippines has emerged as one of the happiest countries in the world, according to a global survey by US-based firm Gallup International.

Gallup’s 41st Annual Global End of Year Survey shows the Philippines ranking 3rd happiest country in the world, with a net score of +84.

Fiji was the happiest country in the world, getting a score of +92, followed by Colombia with +87.

Completing the top 10 are Mexico (+82), Vietnam (+77), Kazakhstan (+74), Papua New Guinea (+74), Indonesia (+68), India (+64), and Argentina and the Netherlands (+64).

    That's an interesting one HaloHalo.
Thailand is known as the "Land of Smiles", and maybe for many it is . But for me , I think the Philippines is more deserving of that accolade to be honest .

I see so many children happy and laughing , and receive so many smiles from complete strangers , who stagger me with their bright sunny attitude despite living a life that few of us could contemplate living with the same spirit and resilience .

I have often thought that they put me to shame for some of the comparitively unimportant things that I sometimes worry , stress or complain about .
We can learn a lot about attitude from these people if we are willing to .

    Not surprising.

Pinoys might not have a lot but it makes up for the postive mind set. Smiles despite natural disasters, financial hardships etc

Agreed. Asawa says I stress too much about the small things and I know she is completely right.

It's innate. Plus sometimes I find it that we Pinoys just smile even when we are stressed.

Like a lot of my colleagues and friends tell me that I smile a lot and ask me why I seem to be always happy.
I tell them that I can't help it.

    SAD doesn't affect me.

Nice photo ! Hi, my name is Nicky I'm a mature masters student at Bristol Uni, studying migration. I'm really interested in peoples future retirement plans. For example, individuals/couples choose the Philippines, the UK or a mixture of both. Fancy a chat ?

He's been in the Philippines for quite some time, retired is a relative term, he eventually found a business idea that worked for him and his family and good on him for that.

    Colombia.
It is a pet hate of mine to see this country's name spelt incorrectly!
I only have 50,000,000 more people to go before my task is done :)
