Hi guys we are in the early stages of doing a Spouse visa application, having come out of retirement im now in my 5th month of working to obtain the employment requirement here in the UK ;). However one thing im not clear about is the passport situation, my wife will have to take her passport with her to VFS Cebu for her Biometrics, along with the application form etc, will they retain her passport as surely its needed to issue the visa ? if not im guessing she will need to send it to me, for me to forward to Sheffield.

Sheffield don't actually 'issue' the Visa... VFS retain it until Sheffield make the decision. Not sure who actually issues the Visa and puts it in the passport - but I guess it is either the British Embassy in Manila (or Cebu), or VFS???

Hi we are about to start processing Spouse visa, Just need more clarifications on documents needed particularly about the proof of accommodation and housing report? Have you guys came across on this? As I need to know what kind of specific documents do they require on this? We are about to process this at VFS Manila. Appreciate any help. Thanks

My husbdand is with me we just arrived from UK and now we are in Philippines to process as we cant process it in UK when im in Tourist Visa although we got married there in UK as they allowed us even if im on a tourist visa. We refered the documents needed via gov.uk but we want to make sure its complete as when we are reading lots of websites there are more and more things needed to provide and we want to make sure it is all complete and correct. Could you provide us more details needed about the requirements and also when it comes to proof of accommodation he got his own property (house) no mortgage, and when we read about website it states certificate of deeds?where should we request in order to provide this document? and would be possible to provide the documents like by email or online incase? as we are already in Philippines. Thanks

Generally the Deeds would have been held by the Bank or Building Society that the Last Mortgage was with, if your husband (If your husband Paid cash) is not sure who the last mortgage was with, the Land Registry would probably know.

    Hi Heathen
Appreciate your help, my husband contacted the land registry and they said that they can confirm by email or online. Would this be enough to support the document about proof of accommodation? as he is worrying that is should be an original documents that we need to provide?also would you know by any chance about the housing report?where to get this as we read on other website that the house should not be overcrowding which is not by anycase as we are just 2 staying in the property.

i'd be interested to know how you got married on a visit visa ---or was it specifically a marriage visit visa ?

i dont have a mortgage--but i bought my house 2 years ago. i provided my solicitors completion statement--plus a letter to me confirming ownership and title. also the estate agents details showing rooms and sizes. you wont need a survey report unless its shared accommodation with other people . this was for sponsorship of my wifes sons visa application.

i would suggest your husband contact his solicitors who handled the purchase of the house. they might have the deeds--or can retrieve them for you

    Hi Big Mac
We were told by the Local Council in UK that we can get married and so by means of requesting to the Home office which we did and waited for one month for them to investigate our situation and then after we them got notice of approval afterwards from the Home Office. My husband contacted the Land Registry for the Deeds of Property, in which they will be proving the confirmation by email or online would this be enough as supporting documents even if we don't have the original document?

read all the ukvi guidance notes--both for the application form and the seperate sposorship forms.

    https://www.gov.uk/guidance/immigration-rules/immigration-rules-index

    https://assets.publishing.service.g...ment_data/file/270197/sup-docs-settlement.pdf

    https://assets.publishing.service.g...nt_data/file/733638/VAF4A-Appendix2-08-18.pdf

    plus any other links.

what others have done--is to post a list of all documents they are intending to send in--then others can see if you missed anything.

Yeah, the marrying over here whilst on a visit visa surprised me, though thinking about it there is no reason why its not possible, the Government are not losing out financially because you are in the process of applying for a spouse visa now.. well done and good luck.
Yes maybe you have saved time in some ways, but now you are finding some issues by applying from the Philippines for your spouse visa from their, what i have learnt over the years there is no quick way to cut corners all requirements still need to be met, before any visa is issued.

I must admit I find it hard to believe a marriage on a general visit visa.
Please do tell us the exact visa you came over on.
    Fianceè visa
    Marriage visitor visa

The rules state very clearly you cannot marry on a general visit visa!
    Is your husband British?

If its true that the rules state that you cannot marry on a general visit visa, that could well have repercussions when you apply for a Spouse visa..
