    Hello to everyone.
Just got back from Phil after meeting a lovely lady whom I have been conversing with for 3 months.
Had an absolutely fabulous time. What a great country, with such charming, polite, respectful folk.
I have a fair bit of experience in Thailand..... and what a difference there is. It's nice to see genuine smiles from folk.
The food was awesome. Ironically, all I had read on the net about Filipino Cuisine suggested it wasn't up to much. I thought it easily beat Thai food. Ate like a horse...a very hungry horse.
Was initially down in Davao, against the advice of Her Majesty's Gov'. Felt safer than Glasgow on a Saturday night !
Went on holiday to El Nido, then visited Apulit… totally awesome !!! Highly recommended. Now I know what snorkelling is all about.
Going back in Jan. The start ( I hope) of something great ?
Looking at us doing a beginner diving course. V excited.
Early , early days I know, but it looks to be a bit of a minefield ahead, with all the red tape, so am hoping this forum and its people can smooth the passage, should it ultimately head in that direction.

    Regards

    Welcome to the forum.

It seems you had a great holiday... and hopefully for you and your lady friend, the next one will be equally satisfying.

    Good luck to you. :like:

Filipino food is not something I personally have warmed to. (In fact, most of it I find either tasteless, overcooked, or repulsive... but then, that's just me. :) ).

OTT is just teasing he should have added a smiley :)

You mean "moaning" he was just making a joke as "mooning" has a slightly different meaning and would be a rather cold thing to do right now :)

Yeah the people on Mindanao are great despite what HMG might say :D You might like to visit Panglao or Siargao when you next go to Phills, Siarao is just off the North North East side of Mindanao, and very much quieter than El Nido, but great Beaches, Snorkelling etc etc. Good luck for the future, enjoy ploughing the through the red tape if it goes that way ;).

Siargao has already been added to the list :)
On not such a brighter note is all the things I've been reading on this site, amongst others re' visa's etc. Looks like a nightmare is about to unfold ! Gotta laugh at my naivety !!!! (it looks like it'll be the only time I am laughing )

Many nice places to enjoy in the Philippines for you and your lady , so many islands to choose from . Bohol has nice beaches , and many things to see if you fancy trying there .
Luckily most places are only a short flight , or ferry ride away , so enjoy your travels .

As you know , visas for us are easy for us to get ,and even extend , the difficulty begins when , like many on the forum , you decide to bring your lady here , but that’s for another time .

Siargao is on my list also, as well as Camotes , and Camiguin .
Enjoy planning your next trip .

I spent a week in Siargao. We stayed away from the harbour area east of General Luna. Gorgeous place. Surigao is just a town but has a decent hotel with a cool bart next door with live music. Useful if you are getting the ferry to Siargao
