Useful to get other's input. My wife applied at the same time as her two children and just got back her passport with approved visa but nothing for children's. As all applications went in at the same time I'm somewhat concerned as would have expected all three to have been processed at the same time and returned together. Only small plus side to this is that vignette start date is 14th January which gives a bit more time to sort this out. Grateful for anyone else's input who has had wife and child apply at the same time and got the passports returned separately. I can't think of a logical reason for them being separated as would have expected them all to held until wife's application was sorted and if any issues with chikdren would have expected her application to be held until decision made on theirs. Hopefully you will get similar Vignette start dates for the kids, as i notice the one they have given your wife is 4 days later than your requested Travel date, there has to be a reason they gave you 14th and not the 10th.
Actually brought it forward to 26 Dec in final version submitted although that does not change the travel date in visa application. Checked letter again and it has earliest date to pick up BRP as 21st Jan so not sure if it is tied in with that if they take minimum time to produce BRP and have to have it available within a minimum number of days after arrival. It is a bit strange having start date so far in advance of issue and after both start dates requested. Still hoping it will all be ok.
congrats on getting your wife's visa, i''ll keep the champers on ice till you get the kids visas as well.
Week later and still no sign of decision letter or passports. Multiple emails ignored, telephone call two days ago established that decision made but can't say when or what decision is, one email complaint over ignoring emails and finally have acknowledgement email to say that has been escalated. Waiting for decision is so nerve wracking and delays for no reason just adds to it.
Finally recieved passports and visa decision back today. Got visas for both children but wife having checked them has discovered that middle name of one son is spelt incorrectly on both the visa in the passport and the decision letter and I am guessing his BRP. Now have to wait and see what UKVI are going to do. Anyone had this experience of having to get visa name corrected ? well done--must be a huge relief for you as promised..... i cant really help about the wrong name---but can you access the forms you filled in...make sure the error was not on your form ?
Thanks. Relieved as visa process has completed in terms of a positive decision. First thing I checked was application form and that was correct. Pretty sure it is their mistake as passport and all documention has double "a" but visa and decision letter is single "a". Should not have gone through process with incorrect name if they check things properly. I'm guessing they do decision letter and visa using a template where enter name and prints in correct format. Now waiting for response from them although not looking good for today.
Finally got a visa with correct name spelling after chasing the problem three times by phone. Came to conclusion emails are not much use. Vignette date starts as of 2 days ago and first discovered that on way back was when couier texted that was delivering. Nothing from UKVI or VFS to say on way. Service is truly appalling. Whilst hard to establish if chasing worked it did seem that after each chase the process moved forward a bit and suspect without chases would still be waiting.
