Hi, I think I recall reading somewhere that a UK settlement visa could be used to visit some of the oversea UK territories. Does anyone know how true this is ? And do you have a list of locations ?
Gibraltar, Bermuda, Turks and Caicos, Grand Cayman appear to accept Filipino nationals with UK Residence Permit or multi entry visa valid for at least 6 months. Falklands and St Helena require additional visa hurdles. Many Caribbean nations (besides Turks and Caicos and Caymans) are quite visa friendly for Filipino short term visitors.
Cayman requires that you are a "permenant resident or landed immigrant" in the UK so I am not sure a 6 month visa would work. You also have to fly directly from the UK. I think travelling with a UK citizen would assist in many cases
When skim reading, I didn't really appreciate the different wording of 'residence' between the likes of Gibraltar and Cayman Islands. I guess the residence permit valid for at least 6 months as required by Gibraltar would be fine for those of us going through the FLR process, whilst the Caymans need ILR already granted. Being a landed immigrant is exactly what many of our spouses are, it is defined as those being on the first step to permanent residency in the country they are living in.
