We have to address drone threats as part of our security business on refineries. Unsurprisingly Israel leads the way with anti drone technology. There are a number of options including anti drone drones and birds of prey. the issue in the UK is that no one plans anymore. There is also affordable technology for low level radar which would detect not only drones but intruders.

I used to think this show was a comedy but now bizarrely, they seem to be really operating as security at Gatwick and Heathrow.

Yes ,I agree it’s crazy . Hopefully it will lead to all airports installing the necessary defence measures that I had always assumed , were already in place.
If not , this will be a recurring theme from now on .

That, according to the London Evening Standard, is a photo of the Heathrow drone taken by a passenger sitting on a plane waiting to take-off.

I wouldn't bet on it. During the Gatwick drone debacle, a journalist asked Heathrow's management whether that airport had counter-measure in place and was assured that they had. Yesterday Heathrow admitted that they've only just placed an order but refused to disclose any detail.

In future folks, if you see a young spotty young oik lingering in the vicinity of a runway with a catapult and mobile phone, that'll be the drone counter-measure operative who'll receive his instructions via Facebook.

I’m sure a drone expert can correct me, but I have never seen one with that coloured light configuration . Normally they would be red at the front , and green at the back , to assist with orientation. They are on DJI drones .

Hmmm, are you sure it's not white at the rear, red front left side and green front right side?

They vary per drone manufacturer but it ultimately depends on the angle of the photo even if one knew the manufacturer.

The scheme I mentioned is the same as that used by shipping and aircraft. In the photo above, I would say that the drone is banking in a sweeping turn to its right ("our" left).

Edit: Take a look at the video on this page: at one point you'll see the drone's port light (red) and to its right the flashing white tail light.

Amazon has my full detailed order history and invoice history amounting to almost 1000 items going back to the day I joined in 2003, they also retain every review of every trader and product that I have ever posted on Amazon.

In addition they keep a detailed record of payment methods and delivery addresses and will revalidate your card if you so much as request a delivery to a stored address or pickup address that you haven't used for a while same applies to new delivery addresses.

eBay keeps an explicit 3 year history.

Leverage of that data is part of the reason Amazon has reached the position it has as the most valuable company in the world.

I would not underestimate any of these companies when it comes to what they know about you.

That all makes complete sense and I should have realised it!

Agreed. Those that master the data are the rulers of the kingdom! Amazon being 2nd in line to Google IMO (albeit slightly slanted sectors).

We keep records of orders for ten years. We have to.
