    fish and chips or english full breakfast :) ?
    which is more healthy meal and why you prefer it :)

    I would guess (without checking) that Fish and Chips is more healthy if you use thick cut chips so there is more potato in there and not just air and fat!! Plus the fish is bound to be a better alternative to fried bacon, black pudding and a fried egg...

    And although I like them both, sometimes nothing like fish and Chips will do:like:

    oh im so glad of your answer Kuya :) although i just notice kids are more prefering the english full breakfast than the fish and chips yet still both are superb yummmy indeed :)

    just made fish and chips on Friday... and hubby said it is better than the take-away... lol

    All depends how it is cooked I suppose.

    Traditional FULL english breakfast can be huge and can include over 1200 calories.

    In a hotel it's 2 or three half slice of toast with one or more 10 gram tubs of butter so that's 130 to 150 calories + 90 calories per 10 gram of butter, couple of sausages fried 300 calories maybe? 2 or 3 slices of bacon another 150 to 200 calories, varying amounts and types of egg, beans, black pudding and fried mushrooms, maybe a croissant to start the day at 350 calories ;)

    I spent a lot of years living in hotels running from one customer to another, it's not actually a lot of fun as you know you are not getting to eat healthily and if you were brought up, as I was, with the maxim that plenty of people are hungry in this world so don't leave anything on the plate it is very hard not to eat what is put in front of you.

    Fish and Chips ? Well very deep fried but the total volume of food is probably smaller and as Kuya says thick cut chips are better from a health viewpoint.

    Me I like a Sunday breakfast of bacon and Scottish potato scone, three or 4 slice of bacon grilled and grilled potato scone, not so many calories or fat if the rest of the day is sensible (for me it is often not sadly :( :D)

    The poorer Filipino families I know eat a diet that is about 30% fat and they are not fat in a western sense they are eating fat because it is an efficient and cheap way to get the energy you need to live and work day to day, our problem in the west is that our jobs are often not physically demanding and food is relatively speaking, even today, cheap!

    Yeah to be honest, me too :)

    Is there anywhere in the Phils you can get a filleted battered deep fried fish, easily? :) (I can live with the bones if I have to ;))

    Actually, there is a Franchise - I think it's called Johnnies fish and chip restaurant. For P150 you get two pieces of battered white fish (I don't think it's cod) and some big chunky chips - and I must say - it's VERY nice. There is now one of these at Park Mall in Cebu!

    Two quid or more :shock: :rofl:

    Long time since I bought fish n chips in the UK so I guess I don't know if that's expensive, the price sounds like a good margin for that dish in the Phils?

    I bet there is a franchise for every idea in the Phils ;)
