1st FLR(M) application - help with questions (& observations)...

As I mentioned in my previous Post here - these are my initial questions (and observations) about how to answer the questions in the online FLR(M) application form, in the absence of any question-by-question Guidance Notes from UKVI -

The application appears to ask the Applicant to confirm that you can/will provide proof of living together/address for the last 2 years - but as a Fiance(e) you can only live in the UK for 6 months before applying for the FLR(M) Visa!!!

It then asks you to account for any periods where you have NOT lived together during the previous 2 years - this might apply if it was the 2nd FLR application, but in this day and age you would think it would be possible for an electronic form to 'adapt' its questions based upon previous answers, i.e. if you have already declared this is the first FLR(M) following a Fiance(e) Visa, it is common sense that you have not lived together in the UK for 2+ years!!!

I'll add to this thread if I have any further questions/find further observations about the illogical questions on the FLR(M) application form, after the wedding...!

Yes, this was weird and misleading. It appears that the application did not differentiate between the 1st and 2nd FLR.

Asking for umpteen items of communication as evidence of residence was impossible. Why the hell would you put your partner on the eleccy bill before she is legally resident? She can't open a bank account yet. I only put her on the council tax for the morons at the NHS.

Annoying that the application process wasn't clearer for 1st FLR applicants.

I have given up trying to get the morons at our local Council to provide evidence that my fiancee now lives at the address - they have 'kind of' acknowledged as much, by sending ME an updated Council Tax statement, less the 25% 'Single occupancy' discount... I will just have to point this out to UKVI in a cover letter!
My fiancee has had 4 different Tesco Clubcard numbers - in as many months - because the first card never arrived, 2x misspelt First Name (same spelling error, twice!) and each time they issued a new number!
Both Nectar and Boots issued 'loyalty/reward' cards, no problem and have now registered with them online so we can at least print off statements with proof of address, although from what I have read UKVI are still insisting on all evidential documentation being 'original' - who sends any physical documents these days...? it's all paperless (something else for the cover letter)
She had no real problem opening a 'Basic' bank account - for me to pay her a monthly allowance - but, of course, no statements (all paperless)
No problem adding her to utility and water bills, but again no original documents to supply...

At least we should be able to supply an original Marriage Certificate!

when i did my wifes 2nd flr last november ( online) a banner across the form announced that from 5th november it was no longer necessary to send originals--except her passport. so i only sent copies of everything else--got the lot back within 2 weeks and the OK letter a month after the application.

I have exactly the same problem! You tick a box saying to undertake to provide these, but as a newly married husband on a 'fiancee' visa, you cannot as you do not have sufficient status in the UK. I am tearing out my hair - or what remains of it in exasperation! Any help would be most welcome!

What are you trying to provide?

Six unobtainable joint letters, or 12 to us at the same address. Clearly this cannot be done for most new arrivals, as they will need Leave to Remain, not simply to Enter. A vicious circle really! Option is to tick the box of undertaking to supply and not do so, or else say one is not living together, and explain in the box that follows that one is actually together.

At the end of the application You will get a checklist of what documents to provide( have you got that yet?)

Yes, Mattecube, that lengthy list of unprovidable official correspondence requirements showing our
co-residence! Thank you for reading this post showing such frustration, by the way!

You are not required to provide 6 joint correspondence when applying for extenstion from a fiancé visa. The Home Office knows you cannot provide such documents when the applicant has only been in the country for such a short time.

When I applied for extenstion from a fiancé visa I provided joint council tax and then letters from Morrisons, Tesco, Boots that were sent to me when I applied for a loyalty card with them.

No letters print letters from official bodies at all! Hoping the Council will send ME a letter reassessing the bill on account of no longer being single. Circumstantial evidence of co-residence. I think there must be many on 'Fiance visas' in this predicament, and perhaps the UKVI overlook it.

So you simply ticked the box saying you had lived together for a few weeks/months, and sent the minimum...and it was understood? If so, heartening. Thanks, Brom27.

Have your wife apply for loyalty cards with Morrisons, Tesco, Boots, Sainsbury, Nectar etc. just to have a letter sent to her through the post so then she could use them as correspondence when applying for FLR(M). I know they’re not official documents but worked for me and a lot of my friends when we applied for FLR.

Yes cos unfortunately the form is the same when you apply for extension after 2.5 years of being in the UK that’s why it’s very misleading if you apply after a fiancé visa.

At least - with 1st FLR(M) anyway? - you no longer have to provide any ORIGINAL documents (except Passports) as evidence... so online printed documents now suffice.

At the start of the paragraph above the list you have supplied it talks about " providing evidence since you started living together up to a maximum period of 2 years" in your case a short period I would provide letters in wife's name (6) any in joint names and any in your name.
They are aware of your short period in the UK

No, but one idea: ask the wedding guests to send thank you letters! Not sure they have much credibility though.
