    Hi All

Where's the best place to buy a suit in manilla? I will be around for 2 weeks. I'm losing weight quite rapidly so don't want nothing too expensive.

    Thanks :)

There is a Debenhams in Makati but I am not aware of any bespoke tailors.

I doubt you'll be able to buy a western suit anywhere, including Debenhams.

I suggest an overnight trip to Hong Kong and a visit to Harry Lee Tailor, Howard Building, 42-44 Hankow Road, Tsim Sha Tsui, Kowloon, telephone 2366 0093 (the shop also deals in Jade and antique jewellery). They'll make you a bespoke suit in under 24 hours; they also make shirts. Over the years, I've had several Harry Lee suits made and they're good quality. There are a number of other bespoke tailors in TST but Harry Lee is the best.

Honkers is the place for your suit or fly down to Davao to M&S

The last suit I had made was 15 years ago. It was a medium weight wool, silk lined, blue pinstripe two-piece and cost around £100 on a two day service; I still have and occasionally wear that suit. You'll probably pay around HK$1500 - 2500 (£150 - £250) for something similar, depending on the fabrics and style.

There are around 26 M&S stores scattered around Metro Manila, 2 in Davao and 1 in Cebu but on my last visit shortly before flying to Malta, the larger of the Davao stores (SM Lanang) did not stock any suits. But I did buy a couple of pullovers.

I forgot about M&S as you say there are a few, there's also a Clarks shoe shop.

You may be talking about the old SM Lanang, it's been replaced by a new mall and is (I think!) the first of the SM Premier malls in which all the shops and eateries are upmarket. SM Premier Lanang has only been open for four years.

I always nip in for M&S chocolate biscuits, and a pack of "rhubarb and custard" sweets
