(For those who've been living in a cave without benefit of any form of media for the past several decades)

Knowing WHY atrocities may have been committed, cannot ever make them forgivable or justifiable.

That is just utter ridiculous nonsense, and an insult to innocent victims of such.

    "Ridiculous Nonsense"?
Your country has not been invaded over the past several decades so how would you know what it feels like to have so many civilian deaths in that time frame?

    Lets just look at Palestine:
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Palestinian_casualties_of_war

    and Iraq War documents leak:
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iraq_War_documents_leak
Lancet survey: 601,027 violent deaths out of 654,965 excess deaths
If the invasion did not take place, these deaths would not have happened.

Not ridiculous nonsense when you look at the numbers, is it?
I doubt you would even read the two articles, but you can to get a better idea because you have the internet as you don't live in a cave.

I do agree with you that there is a hardcore group of Islamophobes who tick every box when it comes to the cliché test.

I would hope you agree that whilst there are undoubted issues in Western society/religions that need addressing (kiddy fiddling priests for a start) there are also issues which are affecting life for Muslims in Western countries. I've lived in Muslim majority neighbourhoods so I know as well as anyone that the vast majority just want to get on with their lives as normal.

One thing that I would want to question in your post is that very few of the terrorists in the UK and Europe are Palestinian or Iraqi. They are generally Pakistani and North African descent. Why does a Morrocan need to get so worked up by Palestine?

In contrast, you don't get any radical Christians who kill in support of persecuted minorities in Pakistan, Egypt etc. Well, there are probably some in Nigeria who make revenge attacks for Boko Haram, but certainly none from Western countries which is surprising when you consider how loopy American Christians can be. You obviously have the civil wars in Yugoslavia etc with Christian and Muslim belligerents but they don't travel in support of other Christians (not since many hundreds of years, anyway).

It's always bothered me how socialists are so fixated on Israel that you would think there are no other countries with questionable practices out there. This spills over in to anti Semitism which is now bedevilling Labour.

Thanks for replying with a well thought-out reply.

It has always seemed to me that, unlike other religions, if a Muslim country is invaded it reverberates all around the Muslim world.
Why that is, I do not know. It just seems to be. I suppose you could say that their religion is, in some way, stronger to them than other religions are for others.
Once again, not being Muslim, I do not know. In fact I am an atheist so I don't prescribe to any set of beliefs.

With reference to Israel, I am of the opinion that the land grab in the occupied territories has severely hurt Arab-Israeli relations and the ongoing repression of Palestinians protesting about this has caused so many problems.

What I do know from working in many Muslim countries is that the way of life is far removed from what we have in the west and is often unfathomable for non-Muslim people to understand.

There hasn't been full scale invasions of Muslims occupying non-Muslim countries.
No Muslim countries have the array of arms that some non-Muslim countries do.

The imbalance of western thinking has not been helped by the power of the Jewish lobby in the USA and this has been unfair for the Palestinians also.

You do have a bit of a fixation on the Arab-Palestinian conflict.

You say that their religion is "stronger to them than other religions are for others", I understand what you mean by that, but don't understand why you think that can be used to justify, in any way, so much hatred and violent terrorist activity such as:
    • Multiple violent attacks and bombings against Egyptian Coptic Christians.
    • The attacks on a Sinai Mosque by ISIL in 2017, Killing 311 people and injuring 122 .
    • The 2018 Surabaya, Indonesia bombings of multiple Christian churches and a police station.
    • The latest atrocities carried out in Ceylon.
    • Not forgetting the Bradford taxi driver who drove to Glasgow to murder another Muslim, Asad Shah, because he was too moderate.
    • And of course the Bali, Indonesia Bombings in 2002 which killed 202 innocent people of many nationalities and injured over 250.
Just a few incidents that I was thinking about today.

I guess that most Muslims want to lead a peaceful life, it seems just a minority of extremists manage to indoctrinate and stir up hatred.

I walked past the shrine for the Bali bombing victims in Kuta a few times last week, I hope that the British manage to get a decent shrine in place to honour the Manchester stadium victims.

Maybe that is like your fixation with Pakistani Islamic paedophile rings within the UK?

He also called it "Arab-Palestinian conflict" so he is very unsure of historical facts and Middle Eastern geography

Pakistani or Islamic, I don't really know.
I definitely think it has been handled badly by the UK authorities and I may have contributed to related discussions on this board.
    But fixation, most certainly not.

Moving on from the Middle East conflicts, and violent Islamic terrorism.

There was a big religious festival here in Ubud yesterday, don't know what it was all about.
