It is just another indication of how vegan food is getting more and more popular, Keith I take my own food to work but it is also nice to pick up something suitable "on-the-go".
I make 90% of my own food from raw ingredients but I do use chicken, pork and beef to varying degrees. I don't eat steaks or at least maybe only two or three times a year, I will make beef stew with mushrooms now and again. But mostly I make Chicken dishes, 'Planet of the Chickens' that's what we are now, there are three of them for every one of us now, that's at any one time as obviously we kill them a lot. Twenty odd billion chickens aren't going away soon.
Stopped eating steak, fish and chicken, maybe a little lamb or goat now and again, havent eaten pork for maybe 30 years.
Why have I stopped eating steak?Just don't like it.Stopped eating pork because I don't like the way it smells when cooking, makes me want to vomit plus the taste, bacon etc tastes horrible.
Bacon has too much salt, one dose results in large amounts of water retention. Fair enough on the rest. I like steak but not enough to eat it often, pork generally I don't buy pork but I do a beef/pork mince Bolognese quite often, yes mince is not too healthy but that depends on the total amount of fat being consumed every day, everything is bad when proportions are wrong. I like the taste. We cannot survive without essential fats although I am not clear on the proper sources for those fats. I was surprised that you state you don't eat fish? Did you mean to place a comma or should it have been a semi colon between "steak, fish"? The assertion appears to be that you stopped eating all of them but reading it I think you meant you eat Fish, Chicken and maybe a little goat or lamb now and then. I am guessing you were replying on a phone hence the punctuation?
I have my own supply of turkeys that I breed to sell or eat. Last count 30+ turkeys and 8 eggs that should have hatched by now.
I have a friend who likes his steak slightly seared, you can see the inside is raw when he cuts into it
A lot of people like their steak bleu, I've tried it that way and it is nice up to a point but I prefer medium or well done and it is a very rare occasion that I ever eat steak these days.
My favourite is a decent fillet, cooked "saignant", so that it bleeds heavily into the sauce when you stab it. As for the sauce, Roquefort or Moutarde are my favourites, served with Belgium frites and a jug of red wine, followed by coffee and a decent Cognac. All that was when I lived, worked, and travelled in Luxembourg and Belgium. Never had a decent steak in the UK, steak and kidney pies are quite a shock I suppose.
So Subway is selling Vegan Subs, eh... Forgive me, I obviously lead rather a sheltered existence but exactly what does a Vegan taste like? Would Durian come close to describing the overall effect?
subway---huh! why do they employ such rubbish staff. sooo slooow. i mean--how long does it take to make a sammich ? and WTF is a sub anyways ?
