    There is a phrase 'dying for a drink', I think this time I'd rather not take that risk :)

    I went to my local Aldi in Bury this afternoon.

    Flowers were half price.

    There was a security guy outside limiting entrance to 80 people at a time, which still seems quite busy as it is a fairly small store.

    There were markers on the floor (they had to improvise with stickers saying "product out of date") to indicate 2m distance between shoppers when queuing up and check outs had clear plastic barriers between check out assistant and shoppers.

    The store was fairly well stocked compared to last week thanks to the 3 item limit per customer.

    Surprised Aldi is so generous with unpaid leave at the moment. Supermarkets seem to be cashcows in this time of crisis and can't get enough people inside to stack their shelves.

    Hopefully they have done this in Newbury now too. Apparently they are due to put screens up on the tills soon.

    In fairness, Jeff Bezos keeping his Amazon Prime next day delivery ticking over has been one of the few things that has remained normal during this crazy time.

    Care home where my wife works had a dying resident, the home would only allow next of kin until they had moved the resident into a corner of the room put a glass screen up and next of kin in gowns etc.
    The residentv passed away not corona related 6 hours later I am told she was in her 80s

    That's a good report John, I've only scanned and I'm not qualified to fully interpret the stats they present but basically the numbers look to converge on an overall case fatality rate in the range of 0.7% to 1.5% maybe which agrees closely with the numbers coming out of South Korea which so far represent the largest test sample we have on Earth. Although it states that Iceland has tested a higher proportion of it's population while that is true is has a much smaller population than South Korea

    If you have high blood pressure you are substantially more at risk, high blood pressure is likely to associated with other heart disease indicators as well, and some other conditions predispose you to having higher risk but heart problems are directly linked to lung problems so that seems to be the biggest risk group.

    Most of this is what I and others have been posting on here for weeks.

    I'll try and read in a bit more detail later but I need to get back to work.

    edit: recent numbers out of South Korea are seeing the case fatality rate start to approach 1% it had been about 0.7% for a while.

    Got to get this off my chest;

    The landlady where i live has a 37 year old son he is the laziest person that i have ever known, I think he has probably worked in total about 6 months since he left school at 15/16, He does drugs which is more and more common these days, gets out of signing on by pretending to have bouts of depression so gets more money by being on the sick :D.
    However whats pissing me off right now is the fact that with during this lockdown he seems to think the stay at home rule doesnt apply to him, by either going out all day or going out several times a day, he has just been home for his lunch then straight out again with his lazy drug smoking mates, Im coming 68 and his mother is 65 so we are more or less in the high risk group, but NO he thinks he wont get anything he is okay the lockdown doesnt apply to him, I tell you what if i get this virus i will make sure i cough all over him :mad:, incidentally i havent seen him wash his hands once.. rant over..

    I listened to a guy today Prof Chris Morris (Cambridge) and he talked about many could of had this or a strain of this virus back in February, he also talked about periodic death rates and unless I interpreted what he said wrongly he seemed to suggest that if say the mortality rate in UK for March is 5000 and there is a virus going round and the mortality rate goes up to 6000 they put the 1000 attributable to the virus when it could be the virus caused a complication of an already existing health issue hence we have commentary of she died but had underlying health issues.so whilst the 1000 is a 1000 they could of passed on at any time.
