These days we have a cooked breakfast almost every morning. My wife cooks the breakfast. However the eggs, bacon and sausages are always well overcooked. The bacon is cooked to a crisp for example in such a way that it cannot be cut with a knife but can be shattered into pieces like a crisp, with a firm prod. There is no soft yellow yolk here in our household.

Is this common in the Philippines or is this just the way my wife cooks?

To my dismay, on the breakfast... yes.
I do endure some terrible dry bacon and overfried eggs.

But to be fair, my wife is an exceptional cook. Anything she puts her mind to she will do a great job of it.
So much so, that some of my kids to prefeer her lasagna to mine, and it hurts...
She bakes beautiful cinnamon rolls, chocolate fondants, cakes and whatnot.

I suppose I feel privileged on all other cookery fronts....;);)

Bacon was like that in the few hotels I have ever used over there, at home in the Philippines we rarely ever had bacon but it would often be overdone, a problem for me there is that the bacon is never as good as say Danish bacon we get here.

At Christmas I cooked bacon properly a few times but Janna did not really like it, James was ok with it but I don't think he was a huge fan.

Personally I prefer to grill bacon but we don't have a grill at the top of the oven in the big cooker so I had to fry it.

Ana and Nanay were pretty good at doing their version of scrambled eggs, I always considered it a treat when they made that for me.

My wife's daughter is the better UK style cook over here.
When she arrived here she could barely cook and now she asks lots of questions on western food.
When she asked what was " eggs sunny side up" my chance to get eggs just how I like them

It would not get used, I cook in a Wok most of the time for anything Chinese and the likes and for a lot of Indian food, I use my Pressure Cooker for a lot of curry dishes as well and I use my steamer for most European dishes, very rare I would have a steak or the likes but that would either be grilled or fried in a frying pan.

Due to my hospitality background, I have a pan or knife or implement for every single dish I prepare.
I cringe when I observe my wife peeling potatoes or apples with one of my prized Japanese Suntoku knives, going against all rules of common sense... And wasting loads of spud matter by leaving it attached in thick layers to the skin.
Frier, Grill, all singing and dancing ice cream maker.. Bought her a brand new mixer, as she enjoys baking, but the darn thing is still in the box after 3 years.

My wife over cooks beef too. She even refers to over cooking as over cooking. She seems frightened should the egg yoke be runny at all, rather like her aversion to tap water (something she has overcome now. :D

It is with certain things. On the flip side she under toasts the toast by a long way :D but that is an exception.

No it isn’t all like that. Other foods aren’t given the “flame thrower” treatment in the same way.

If I get a chance to cook breakfast then I get my way but if she cooks breakfast it is done more like her way.

Ana undercooked toast, but I actually quite liked it that way, to the point that I will toast Gardenia white bread slices from SM that way myself.

My wife often puts a fried egg on top of rice, and always has it a bit runny. Sometimes she even undercooks it a bit for my liking, and it still has a small amount of clear liquid egg white on the top.

She likes it like that, and when you cut it then it all runs into the rice. Very nice actually.

She also likes her beef rare and running blood when it is carved.

Yeah I realise that, but it is basically a miniature convection oven and I don't use an oven often enough to justify it.

Once in a blue moon I will do pizza or reheat a nan bread or chapatti and this kind of device is not really appropriate for that due to the dimensions, I would be better off with a top end Combination Microwave/Conventional Convection oven from Panasonic which would let me do these kinds of things.

Oven chips and the likes are also fairly rare for me, I prefer steamed baby new potatoes.

I think jollibee do that with the egg on rice if not mistaken

How undercooked? Mrs Ash normally undercooks the toast so that you can see a solitary light “skid mark “ over what is white bread that has been warmed :D
