At the 00:40 mark is the reason why I went there - to scuba dive and see the very impressive tail of the thresher shark :like:

If you love the Thresher Shark and Malapascua then this lady must surely be on your radar?

I would be interested to see how the work she has done is perceived in the region but the sanctuary has been a labour of love for her. I haven’t personally met her (but my 7 yo daughter has when she and my wife visited in 2017).

After the typhoon (Anna describes the importance of the Thresher Sharks at Monad Shoal) :

This video is from 2019 and at 04:45min it shows a nice empty beach away from the main beach.
The man is a little too loquacious for my liking - I would have preferred more video of the island.

It is possible to walk around the island in a few hours so it is quite small. There are no roads, just tracks for people and small motorbikes.
I haven't been back there since 2008. My wife tells me it has changed but perhaps not vastly.

“These sharks are worth more to us alive than dead”, says it all really.

I got some footage earlier of my sons cousin catching and releasing an 8 foot thresher shark, caught on light tackle off Davao, the shark looks stunning

The interesting thing is on the footage you hear one of them say "Catch and release" when they realise its a shark, it swam off strongly :) IMG_20210120_172806.jpg
