My son told me about the August 1st rule change but he thought it applied to all foreigners, when I checked I realised it was only foreign residents and people on a work visa.

Given the general approach to the virus I can't see tourists being allowed for a long long time.

Not unless you are a resident with an existing long term visa, no new visas, that means if you are there on a visa extension and you are regularly extending that visa you are in trouble if you have to leave and try to return as you will not receive a new visa waiver on arrival.

If you are a retiree living in the Philippines with the appropriate visa and you had left the country for a holiday in say February, you will be allowed back in as of 1st of August.

But no visa waiver travel for anyone else, in other words no tourists.

I'm British and GF is in UK on a 6 month visitor visa which hasn't been extended, runs out in 6 days.... Not sure what to do. No direct flights back to Phillipines and looks like I couldn't enter anyway.

I am sure that the Visa , due to Covid-19, is automatically extended.
A friend of ours brother, visiting since December, and due to leave in June, is still here, extended until August.
But it seems that due to a lack of flights, may extend even further.

I would try to phone immigration, if I were you, just to make sure.

    Entry to the Philippines
Due to the ongoing coronavirus outbreak, the Philippine government has announced temporary entry restrictions.

British nationals will no longer be able to receive a visa on arrival and will not be able to enter the Philippines until further notice. Foreign spouses and children travelling with a Filipino national and members of international organisations already accredited to the Philippines will be exempt from this restriction.

    Quarantine requirements
Passengers arriving at any international port of entry may be subjected to mandatory quarantine (for a maximum of 14 days) and/or be required to undergo Covid-19 testing on arrival. Foreign nationals are expected to defray the costs of their quarantine and/or Covid-19 testing.

So Spouses are able to enter, Flights permitting, but mandatory Quarantine of 14 days will apply or undergo a Covid 19 test on arrival, plus the mandatory 14 days Quarantine on return to the Uk, this makes any visit not impossible but difficult if people have to arrange annual leave from work. I know my wife wants to visit home sometime before the end of March, thats the end of her year for taking leave in 2020/21, looks like some difficult decisions ahead..

We'll just go hang out in Thailand or somewhere else hopefully for a few months.
Unless the UK extend her visa again next week.
