I just got sent footage this morning, the Easter celebrations in Luzon, some guy walking along dressed as jesus getting some pretty decent drop kicks in the back
Anyway, huge crowd watching, I was looking for masks........ None that I can see

The Daily New Cases are increasing rapidly in the Philippines. But not (yet) matched in the number of deaths. What’s going on ?

Same answer as last year, the country is young, it has a young demographic.

However on a daily basis the death count is up sharply as reporting resumes after Easter, 2 days ago there were 10 deaths, yesterday they reported 382 and today 242, those numbers are very high for the Philippines but indicative of patchy reporting.

The Philippines Coronovirus deaths graph always seems very erratic without any discernible pattern or relationship to anything in particular...

Sadly we don't really know what's going on because there isn't a proper system for testing... so the numbers you see are just guestimates.

What we do know is the hospitals in Manila, and the nearby provinces, are either full or unable to accept new cases because they no longer have staff to deal with the numbers.

They're now trying to recruit more staff from the provinces but obviously going to be too little too late...

I think another part of the problem is the number of staff (nurses) who have simply given up risking their lives each day working for a pittance.

This story pretty much sums it all up

50 peso extra a MONTH to work in a covid ward in some hospitals FACT :like: also degree holding nurses who are reviewing are also working part-time as nursing aids in some hospitals.

By the time RP gets around to vaccinating those currently over 65 I suspect most of them will be dead :D

Odd they are saying over 65's as I know a few people who had vaccines 2 weeks ago who were told they weren't vaccinating anyone over the age of 69,right hand doesn't know what the left hand is doing :D

    Hehehe...

In 2020 DuSomething refused to pay the vaccine developers upfront for a jab unproven - unconstitutional... so RP waited until the vaccines were tested and approved before placing orders... and then of course it was all, sadly, too late for the little people.

Most of the elite here have already had their jab.

Duterte is actually MIA at the moment, rumours of a private healthcare plane to Singapore, backed up by his daughter going on a 5 day trip to Singapore "for health reasons" and Duterte attending meetings via zoom, but who knows, if he is there it's cancer related and not covid.
