Gordon Brown promised british jobs for british workers, didn't happen on his watch, and I remember he was embarrassed shortly after making that statement, but nows the time to skill-up british kids to fill the shortages :)

The local factories here are trying to do that. They are finding it difficult.

It isn’t any easy thing to solve. By adjusting one component favourably (Oss uses a dial analogy) you impact another adversely. The thing was the whole employment thing had swung in favour of the Eastern European’s and against local people, solely to keep the consumer in cheap goods. This pithed some of the electorate off and I can see why.

The Isle of Man analogy isn’t a bad one. They look after their local work force, first and foremost. (They also look after their Filipina spouse visa applicants a bit better too).

Druk ( I don’t know your actual name ). I couldn’t vote at the referendum as I was a Manx resident. If I could I would have voted against it. However at the last General Election I voted for Boris Johnson to get Brexit over the line after what I learned in the factories of N.W. England.

Not just factories, I know an asbestos stripping company locally that employed only polish, I know Eastern Europeans were getting their feet under the table at construction companies, once they got an "in" at a business it was jobs for the boys, glad we voted out :like:

I truly didn’t realise the sheer scale of the infiltration and I don’t think many people did, outside of those environments. I know Oss wasn’t up to speed on those sheer numbers.

I realised it because I see it locally and moreso when I go into London, I always listen for accents and languages, I have even learnt to ping a beggars ethnicity by their methods, the sheer numbers even now are staggering.

:D I salary sacrifice 29% of my remuneration to pension + a further 10% of my total before sacrifice is added to my pension by my employer, that just gets me out of the higher rate tax band but any bonus if I get one will get taxed at 40%.

So yes I could, up to a point afford one if I wasn't supporting my two kids in a foreign country, but for my mileage it's still better for the planet for me to keep my old dirty Honda on the road :D and I prefer to have savings and know my kids are safe :)

A well known manufacturer of burgers and burger meals up our way are desperate for new employers. And they are still offering to translate for Eastern European applicants.

I wouldn't mind moving to Spain if I could sell my house in the Philippines but the wife loves it here and won't sell. Now the UK is out of the EU and and people living out of the UK can not get NHS service you need Private health care?

Yeah people will need some kind of health insurance unless this GHIC card thing turns out to be any good, my EHIC card should still be valid until the October 2022 but then that's it as far as Europe is concerned.

Apply for a UK Global Health Insurance Card (GHIC) - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk)

Also beware that there are a lot of sites pretending to be the application site for this GHIC card and should apply for it here on the official site Applying for healthcare cover abroad (GHIC and EHIC) - NHS (www.nhs.uk)
