Yes I've been reading about the small nuclear weapons and some say that's possibly his next step! I agree he appears unstable but I don't believe he will go that far as he is aware of the impact.
Whilst he flirted with, when the fighting surrounded the nuclear plant it was only flirtatious he is pushing the use of nuclear weapons to the extreme but I believe he, as potty as he is will stop short.
Even China is now pushing a distance between themselves and Russia.

He's just disconnected Chernobyl, it's stopped reporting safety information to the IAEA.

I looked this up because I just saw it flash up on the BBC.

Chernobyl no longer sending safety signals and ‘increasingly urgent’ to rotate nuclear plant staff after Russian seizure | The Independent

And remember there are still operational reactors on that site.

One of the reasons he is emboldened to attempt this insanity at this time is the development of Hypersonic Cruise Missiles by Russia and China, there is no existing viable defence against these weapons and they are a first strike weapon, they effectively neuter the American carrier fleets the US could not even roll up into the Mediterranean sea with a carrier group to provide support now as these weapons are capable of taking out if not actually sinking a US Nuclear powered aircraft carrier.

These are also nuclear capable first strike weapons, they are steerable which means that anti-ballistic defence systems don't work, they are so fast that they create a plasma shield around them that would disperse any laser defence if they even worked and being first strike weapons they destabilise the whole world by reducing the response time for the Americans, Biden could have as little as a couple of minutes to launch a full out MAD strategy response if Putin targeted Washington.

Also the Americans are behind in this technology for once

The Kinzhal is a nuclear-capable, Russian air-launched ballistic missile, likely derived from Russia’s ground-launched Iskander-M. Speed reaches mack 10 or 7,673 miles per hour.

As long as Portugal Spain and France are safe in May that will be great.
