Why are you rushing? Marcos and Sarah just started their terms. Does any of the new elected here in the UK moved their arse the day 1 they sat in their positions? I don’t think so! And FYI War on drugs is good! Serves all the druggies rights as they are one amongst the drug lords, corrupted officials who caused chaos in the Philippines. Because of drugs, there’s lots of rape happening, from grandmothers to new born babies, killings, kidnap for ransoms, etc! Think about it!
Kidnap for random was a pinoy "thing" long before the spread of shabu, be specific when labelling "druggies" Mystica, you mean shabu addicts, Philippines also has an alcohol problem and that's a drug (probably the worst.
Has Dutertes war on drugs quashed the problem? 100% not, that's fact, buy-busts happen everywhere daily, also fact, has the Filipinos appetite for shabu diminished? No. What's the answer? If people facing death still continue to buy, sell, and use when faced with death is there really a solution?
Nixon invented the "War on Drugs", the idea being blame the victims, it's never worked anywhere, the criminal activity and industry that arises from drug use is the result of the criminalisation of drug use. A war on poverty would be far more effective at making life better for everyone, and not just in the Philippines, but of course no right wing authoritarian government is going to actually try to improve the lives of the majority of their citizens.
I think that some people on this message board need to worry far more about their own countries Political problems and social issues and failures far more before deciding what might be best for us located on the other side of the world from them.
The war on drugs was won by drugs, people choose escapism for whatever reason through alcohol, shabu, cannabis or whatever, if your life is absolute s**t in a slum in Tondo or LA or Sunderland and you want to escape it temporarily what easier route for the average person than some form of drug.
In the UK--free to anyone registered as an addict with a GP. Available of free prescription at Superdrug. Crime problem solved; sales of BMs slumps.
Yeah if your life is **** in Tondo, LA or Ferguslie Park in Paisley you are already a victim of circumstance not everyone will look for escapism but enough people will to be able to fuel a criminal drug trade, but your point about alcohol is well made too.
The shooter is actually a police doctor, alcohol induced. Shabu isnt as problematic a drug as San mig, tanduay etc, spousal and child abuse, murder, robberies, violence, but alcohol is legal. https://www.pna.gov.ph/articles/1178126
I am on drugs with hypertension, asthma and depressions. Whenever the pharmacist hand over my meds, she says , “here’s your dugs!” And I have to tell her not to say it out loud as I may get in to the list of drug users!
It's easier for me to point the finger because I have never drank alcohol, but I have seen the damage it does to families, and know from Er indoors the weekend A&E troubles due to alcohol, damned druggies
Let's not forget that recreational drug use is all over the world too and many millions of people enjoy doing that without doing harm to themselves or to other people.
That is quite a quite a sweeping statement and it would be better, IMO, to be more specific about what type of drug is involved and what kind of alcohol is involved too.
No arguments from me about that, a lot of countries are currently realising this, I would never take a moral high ground that a drug I was taking put me above others taking a lesser drug if I were take any at all, wasn't Duterte addicted to fentanyl? Let he who is without sin
I came from a period of history (70's and 80's) when everyone I knew dabbled in many things. I was also pished many times and alcohol was by far and away the main problem.
