As Italian born and bred I have been an Avid follower of mediterranean diet since the year dot. Extra Virgin Olive Oil is a must in my kitchen, I would rather poach a couple of eggs for dinner than cook without olive oil. I only buy oils made and bottled 100% in one particular country, ie Italy, Spain, Portugal and sometime Greece. I steer away from blends of oil from EU countries, as they spell unknown and non guaranteed original sources. On occasions, in TKMAXX food area, I find some interesting oils and other things, like Italian coffee beans, world spices, Italian herbs, Balsamic vinegars and the cheapest saffron one can get. Yes, olive oil is good in your diet
Wow now I see why the wife wants use oils alot.. Before she came.. I. Never used a drop of. Oil in my cooking.. I am a basic cooker and not good at all... But the wife swears by it
Extra virgin olive oil and butter. We don’t use anything else now. We use both for frying, just need to ensure the heat isn’t too high. Also both on food. Vegetable oils and margarine are not great from the health perspective. There is a lot of material on the internet on foods etc and health. Much of it is conflicting. But this article on olive oil is good.
I cook with extra virgin olive oil but I will also use sesame oil in Chinese dishes for the flavour and occasionally groundnut oil as well. I also switched to butter a few years ago but only on the rational that I use so little that I might as well enjoy what little I use, same as milk I only buy full fat milk because I have very little of it.
I eat loads of butter and drink plenty of full fat milk. I eat and drink more now than for many years. I also consume a couple of hundred ml of double cream each day. Something I have never done until last year.
Olive oil spread for me, love full cream milk and it loves me! so semi skinned it has to be, no cream I like it to much
Bertolli olive oil spread contains 21% olive oil.... Vegetable Oils in varying proportions (39%) (Rapeseed, Palm, Sunflower), Water, Olive Oil (21%), Salt (1.1%), Buttermilk (Milk), Emulsifiers (Mono- and Diglycerides of Fatty Acids), Preservative (Potassium Sorbate), Acid (Citric Acid), Natural Flavouring, Vitamins A and D, Colour (Carotenes)
Sacrilege. Toast is only for smoked salmon and scrambled eggs. Saying that, my kids used to like skinheads on a raft........
Never heard that before, very good Also, I've never seen or heard of any kids who don't like those skinheads
Rather than start a new thread I will use this one. Started to put weight on up to 80 kg now from 75 Kg. Eating the same food high fat, medium protein very low carbs. Maybe eating too much, my stomach seems bloated all the time. Here is what I usually eat.. 4 eggs fried in olive oil, spoonful kimchi, Hungarian sausage and bulletproof coffee with MTC oil. lunch. plain yogurt 2 US cups, 1/2 cup strawberries. Dinner... shredded cabbage, meat or chicken or fish.
You can gain weight even if you stick to your macros. I only have two large eggs and personally I prefer them scrambled with a knob of butter, wish it was easier to get kimchi here in the UK. The yogurt might have hidden sugars, it's hard here to be sure that even a plain yogurt is definitely not sweetened, I do brunch to stick to the two meal a day rather than three but I think if I was living in the Phils I would want three meals a day. It all sounds good Jim, it's probably just quantity, I'll avoid using the dreaded C word
