I still have one or two of my dad's copies of Lilliput from the 1950's, they had covers like that indeed I think I recognise one of those shots
I'm not really into glamour stuff Mike, but yes I prefer tasteful photographs to crass nudity, those old covers are very quaint and at the time they were very risqué, it was very interesting to see that they were painted from real pictures, I had not been aware of that at all, but it makes sense from a production viewpoint, the need to get covers created quickly on short print deadlines. The likes of the work that David Bailey did with his various wives, that I generally found to be very good, some but not all of his nude photography was very artistic, the human form photographed well is beautiful. In general while I can appreciate these kinds of works I would not hang a print on my wall and in that sense I'm not really 'into' either variety of photography.
