So..... what I did was to google coconut uhog...........................seems to mean "snot-like":shock: Sorry all......that's what it said. I think I understand now. This is what is said:- "There are several stages to a coconut: mala-uhog (literally, snot-like), mala-kanin (rice-like, for salads), bucayo (thick meat but not mature enough to yield coconut milk), niyog (mature, for milk extraction mainly)" From a recipe for Binalot (Bicol dish) Thanks yuna for that. Good to learn something new every day.
yes! exactly! that snot-like coconut is the best! have you tried that when you were in the philippines pete?
Yes yuna, I have tried it but only once. Although I never really did know exactly was it was until now. I'm not fond of that really. Basically, I will try anyone at least once. Well not quite anything, chicken feet and chicken head no no no, because I can see what it is
I kid you not I was on a small Thai Island in the Adaman sea and my daily motorbike tours where made more exciting by the regular "thump" of nuts falling from the trees as I passed one of those on the head will ruin your day Bugger I thought Id covered everything
one stuff that is good from the coconut tree is the" bukayo" a very nice dessert..and if you are lucky you can find some macapuno..hmmmmmmmmm a rare coconut among the normal fruits nuts itself but really worthy if you can find out in loads of the coconut tree itlsef as it only come once in a blue moon
hmm if you were there standing in its tree itself and waiting for the coconut nuts falls into your head that might be your price Kitkit wafer with batud and bukayo for dessert hahaha:shock:
