In 15 minutes time approximately we close the doors on the old forum domain that has served so well for so long.

Please try the new address http://www.british-filipino.com/ after 10 pm tonight or 6am Philppine time, we might be back up and running or we might not but we will definitely be back by tomorrow morning UK time.

It has been a lot of worry for me for a long time :) and we still have more to do, Rob will be attending to fixing the PM email system shortly.

Well, I'm sure you boys know what you're doing, good luck getting the loose ends tied up.

You should now be getting email notifications and other forum related email from the new email info@british-filipino.com rather than the old Gmail address, which will shortly be discontinued.

Let me know if you don't get email notifications, or if they arrive in the spam folder by mistake, and I'll chase it up.

Good morning from Davao City :)

Busy day ahead. See you all later.

Well done to all staff involved. Seems to have been a smooth ride.
If only Apple could do the same :D

The site seems faster than before, no delay on page loads.

    Well done!

That should be a permanent redirect which means that your browser has been told to update that bookmark.

We might only have the redirect for a couple of weeks after that the old hosting account dies, we are trying to see if we can extend that.

Yep it's Fasthosts, I've used them for years but this is a brand new Fasthosts account.

Yep, well done to the mods.
It seems to have been a seamless transition to us non-mods but these things take a lot of clear thought and forward planning.

And Paul has set up our Google account and got the robots starting to index us.

One of the big impacts of the move is that we are not so discoverable now, we had good page rankings and that is now gone, I have modified the redirect to make it a wildcard redirect so hopefully that will help a bit.

Can you not use the Google webmaster tools, or is that what Paul is doing?
    (I googled that :like:)

Thanks for that Dave, I've just started the validation process with a TXT entry in the DNS will look at the next step once they agree we are valid.
