It sounds like wont last a day without you... but maybe it's a version not by the carpenters... Any ideas? I tried to upload the mp3 but it will only allow a zip file .... WhatSong2.zip
It sounds like Geordie and tosker talking, I haven't seen the program in decades, this might be the song but a different version?
Thanks Druk1 ... I can relax now Yes ... our friends in the north final episode from 1995 rounded off with dont look back in anger
I haven't watched "Our friends in the north" in around 20 years, I heard that snippet and visualised the scene, odd how the memory works, I can't remember half the stuff I did yesterday
Found it, what an ending one of the earlier episodes, they filmed a bit in Hendon Garths in sunderland, the absolute slum I was brought up in, long since bulldozed
Interesting what you said about being brought up in a slum. In my case--it was Balsall Heath road in Birmingham. I was born at home in 1948; lived there till i was 9. Bombsites were my playground. |We had no bathroom or inside lav. There was a small factory at the back of the houses. It didnt have a lav--so ours got used by workers climbing over the "garden" wall. ( Garden = hard packed bare earth. Grass hadnt been invented )
I don't feel so badly done by after reading that at least we experienced hunger and hardship, and we made sure our kids never have to undergo such a baptism
We never went hungry. Dad had a well paid job--but was going to night school to learn electronics. He rented that house--but bought his first house in 1957--a recently built 3 bed semi in Handsworth Wood--which was countryside back than. The house cost him £2000. Life was idyllic from then on in. The only hardship befell me in my 50's. Years of struggling to scratch a living self employed--and often not getting paid. I finally threw the towel in--bumped the bank and the credit card company, but paid the debt off over the next 5 years I was an only surviving child--and when dad passed on in 2016 he left me everything..which has set me up in retirement. My only regret was he died a month before Nida ( my now wife ) came over to settle. He knew about her--but never met her. Our plan was to buy a suitable house for the 3 of us to live in..and he pay Nida a salary to care for him at home--her idea.
