I was in the Chilean Antarctic region in 1979 and was lucky to see the survey ship "RRS Bransfield" taking on supplies in Punta Arenas. Near the ice down there: The "RRS Sir David Attenborough" is the newest vessel and it would be amazing to see this ship one day. My grandad used to work there and took me inside when I was a small boy (he knew everyone at the gates who used to wave us in - unheard of in these Health & Safety days). It was mesmerising for me.
