Hi all, Just wondering, regarding ILR, because my wife has been living here for five years and she can apply for ILR this August, however we cant afford it at the moment, what happens if we leave it? Also her biometric card expires next January..
That is sad if the only option is going back home if we cant afford it, they could atleast extend it..
You can extend, it's called FLR but I guess that's not what you were wanting, seeing as that too costs lots. Sorry to hear you are struggling.
Although the 5yr route is on 29 aug, but the biometric expires next January, can we apply for the iLR before Aug or January?
Hi All, Hope you all had great weekends, Just a quick one I forgot to ask about the requirement of english test, Although she passed the test when she applied to come to Uk, does she need the "Life in the UK" test when she applies for ILR? thanks.
It needs to be level B1. I understand some used Englush tests that were used in ‘previous applications’ for FLR, as did we. Im not sure if anyone has yet done the same with ILR. We sat a new English test as B1 level was not even on the radar in 2012.
I think this is the one: E-ILRP.1.6. The applicant must have demonstrated sufficient knowledge of the English language and sufficient knowledge about life in the United Kingdom in accordance with the requirements of Appendix KoLL of these Rules.
What! she will need both? Knowledge of language and life If you’re 18 to 64 years old when you apply you must also: pass the Life in the UK Test meet the English language requirements
However... Exemptions if you’re applying to settle You don’t need to prove your knowledge of English if you’re applying as: a victim of domestic violence as the partner or spouse of a British citizen or """"someone settled in the UK"""" the partner or spouse of a person who has died who was either a British citizen or someone settled in the UK Hence only Life in the UK then.. know I feel better..
I think you've misread that. I hope so for both your sakes anyway! You need B1 English and you need the Life in the UK test. And you need to get cracking as it will be January before you know it.
