Good evening all I have a query, do I need a CNI before I head to the Philippines? or just the Affirmation/Affidavit? Thanks
Good Day to All, Timescales depend on how soon you prepare all supporting documents needed such as Birth Certificate, CENOMAR (certificate of no marriage) which is only applicable here in the Philippines, a CNI(certificate of no impediment) is the counterpart of the Philippine term CENOMAR. To avoid rush, the hassles..I would advise you to secure those first before applying for a marriage license. We do have a Marriage Consultancy and Law Office based here in the Philippines if you think it gonna be a complicated case, then we have Lawyers to settle it for you. feel free to call or text 767676767676767676767676
Also CoNI expiration varies in different parts of the U.K, while our marriage licenses here in the Philippines is valid for 120days. The issuance of a Letter from the British Embassy here in the Philippines will expedite the process if you already have the CoNI(certificate of no impediment before travelling our homeland.
this is the 3rd post in which you have left a phone number to tout for business with....... I sincerely hope that there won't be a 4th........
I can't really see why anyone would require the assistance of a lawyer for what is essentially quite a straightforward process. (Marriage in the Phils). The list of documents required is short and clearly described. You either have them or you don't. (JMHO).
You are behind the times. A British citizen marrying in the Philippines does NOT require a CNI prior to visiting the Embassy in Manila.
Just for info, I announced our marriage where I live here in the UK, got the CNI, produced it to the local Philippine registrar, and didn't have to go to the embassy for the affidavit! Got our Certificate from the NSO no problem.
According to the UK government page and according to my own experiences getting married in the Phils you print the affidavit take it to embassy in manila and get it stamped (you need to take a few other documents with you it's all on the UK government Web site) and that's it. You do not need a CNI. Since using the affidavit seems to be the recognized route I suggest you do that.
Also....you need cash to pay at the embassy. Allow time for a quick search as you enter. You can't take your phone or bag with you. And...allow lots of time for Manila traffic.
Fully agree last year took copy of Affidavit Birth Certificate,my decree absolute, ten minutes later all done and dusted
we were allowed to take bags into the grounds once searched but not the room. yes you have to be there for when your appointment is called and they run to time,if you are late you lose out and can sit till the end of all appointments and see if they will assist you then.
