I have recently been married in Quzon City and was hoping on some advice to make the wedding legal in the uk Can anyone help
Yes..there was a thread just recently about a young Filipino bride who's British husband thinks the marriage isn't recognisedl in the UK. Ha ha.
.... until you need to apply for your State Pension. If your Certificate of Marriage was issued by the Philippine NSO then you will need to get it "Red Ribboned" by the DFA before submitting it with your Pensions application.
Paul, when you apply for your State Pension, you have to submit your birth certificate and if married, your marriage certificate. Don't ask me why - I haven't a clue, I thought they stopped Widows' Pensions some time ago.
Coincidentally I received my original documents back from the Pensions Service office in Belfast this morning less than one week after sending them to an address in Newcastle. And I'm in Malta, not Maidenhead!
Tell us the details then on how did you go the process of marrying in the Philippines. Why seem a problem if you had married legally?
On the surface you are married BUT you have to wait 6 - 12 months to get the authenticated marriage certificate from the NSO office OR if you pay 640 Pesos for the electronic transmittal in the city hall you will get it in almost 2 months. So although we hold the original copy signed by the mayor and other officials , UNTIL it is authenticated it is just a piece of paper .

I think he better tell us first how he WENT THROUGH it...what type of marriage was that?Did they comply the 12-15 day rule to get a marriage license? Was the presiding celebrant authorized ? Etc.. You know ...all these things would matter before the marriage ceremony should take place. And if so you did..why need to have it legalized in the UK? Yes it needs to be SECPA COPY (security paper) and that's it! You will just include your marriage cert. In your UK documents for whatever purpose it may serve you. I Hope you give us details about your marriage.

here is the copy of that letter GRO First Point of Contact <GROFirstPointofContact@gro.gsi.gov.uk> Jul 8 at 11:32 AM Message body Dear Cez Thank you for your enquiry. Unfortunately, you cannot register an Overseas Marriage/Civil Partnership in the UK. However, we do consider the marriage legal in this country. To obtain any copy of the marriage certificate you will need to apply to the Local Office in the country of Marriage/Civil Partnership. As the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) has now discontinued its service of depositing Overseas Marriage/Civil Partnerships with this office, you will need to make your own arrangements for safe-keeping of your certificate. For further information on the legalisation of documents, contact Foreign and Commonwealth Office: https://www.gov.uk/marriage-abroad Regards
utter rubbish. your husband is talking out of the wrong end of his body. however--as you cant divorce him--under philippine law---you need to get him to divorce you---so youre both free. best way to do that is to sue him for maintenance now--get him used to the idea he will be paying out for the rest of his life--or until you decide you dont want any more--or if he divorces you.
i really dont know--but i imagine it would be expensive. you just want to be rid of him--so getting him to divorce you is your only option.
