    Effective on 15 September 2016

The enhanced check-in baggage allowance applies to tickets issued or exchanged on or after 15 September 2016. The new cabin baggage allowance and extra baggage charges applies to travel on or after 15 September 2016, regardless of the date the ticket was issued or exchanged.

436 with Cathay? If so then yea definitely a bargain. When I was watching for cheap flights I never see anything much lower than 540. Imagine on the return leg... 10 extra kilos of dried fish... I can smell it now :D

Please yourself......... will send my lot over with the remains, which still are considerable, of the last batch that arrived.
I am sure that your neighbours will appreciate the different smells of the diversity of ethnic cuisine and enjoy the pungency.

We recently received some dried fish as a gift.
The kitchen acquired a whole new fragrance. The first breath was 'ah the aroma of the Philippines' swiftly followed by the realization that it plainly stank.

Undeterred @BlueberryCheeseCake ate some and then we noticed she had a whole new and unusual perfume.

We were reminded of a scene in a Vietnam war book we both read where one of the characters said 'you number one GI' and breathed fish breath into the soldier's face.

We joked about the scene in the movie full metal jacket - 'I so horny.. I love you long time' but the stinking fish remained uneaten after the laughter died away.

We gave it away to an unsuspecting Filipina at church, securely wrapped in several layers of plastic to prevent wrinkled noses during the service.

Got stitched with KLM yesterday at Manchester Airport, Kristine being Kristine has managed to aquire a few items in the past 6 months hence her main suitcase was around the 37k mark, (23k is the limit) I looked on the KLM website and bought extra baggage allowance £40 meaning she can take 2 suitcases.

We then bought another suitcase much smaller and filled it to 16K.

At the airport the check in desk was having none off it, main case was now 27K (4k over) but other case is 16K, 7K under ..... or so you would think.

But oh no sorry sir we don't combine weights sir you will have to pay £80 for the 27K case, I was fuming but realized I was fighting a losing battle and paid the £80, then to add insult to injury she then asks Kristine is she fit and able as she is sitting her next to the emergency exit !!!!!!!

I had to walk away at that stage for fear off being arrested.

Could you not transfer 4Kg from the 27Kg case to the smaller one?

Is there anything that says you cannot "combine weights" on the KLM website, all I can see is that the Business class allows 2 x 32 Kg check-in cases, so KLM must be able to handle a 27Kg case?

Worth raising a complaint to KLM if you feel that the check in staff was being unpleasant and unhelpful, I have had a bad check in experience with KLM at Manchester myself, due to a staff members attitude problems.

Request a refund of the £80, you had already paid for the extra bag.

Hope you did not pay cash without a receipt!

No I don't think we could have got anything else in the smaller bag and as you say I checked the KLM website and did not see any mention off not combining weights.

Yes its worth a letter and I do have the Credit Card receipt.

Emergency exit does sometimes mean extra leg room dependent on layout on some planes.

Not trying to throw it in your face or anything but always found CP very relaxed about luggage weight. We've never been under limit ever with them despite my protests to asawa that I'm gonna go mad if they charge us!

That sucks. It's a shame that you couldn't allocate the weight more evenly.

Unfortunately if you can't find a written statement to say that you may 'share the allowance' between two bags, then you're at the mercy of the discretion of the operator. However, if you can't find a statement that states that you may not, then you may as well complain. You have nothing to lose.

I suspect that she was seated in the extra legroom seat next to the emergency exit as a favour to you because you had been forced to pay the money. It was a good thing.

The operator is required by law to ensure that anyone so seated is fit and able so as not to present an obstruction in the event of an emergency.

I think that KLM handles a lot of the customer service / complaints via Twitter and Facebook these days, if you are feeling really brave...

KLM 24/7 service via social media

    (tweet tweet )
