This link has pictures of the newly refurbished Ninoy Aquino International Airport, Terminal One. We all remember it as grey concrete, hot, sticky and sweaty, overcrowded and with ghastly loos and shops. A deserving winner of the title "World's Worst Airport", in fact. It's just been re-opened - and the airport authority have been wise enough to know that they had in their hands a neglected gem of modern architecture. Leandro Locsin wasn't Norman Foster and this isn't Hong Kong or any of the terminals cloned from that - this is an Eighties building but now we can actually see it, it's a pretty nice one! We are told the air conditioning now works.. http://manila.coconuts.co/2016/09/1...-naia-t1-looks-after-php13-billion-renovation
I doubt I will be using it in the future myself, but with this, you helped some travelers dispel their fears of the place. Hopefully the changes have brought the various little scams to an end.
I was last there on June 18. A few cosmetic differences. One queue is much the same as another to me. I never buy anything in airports. May perhaps use the loo. The free wifi was good enough... but then it was good earlier this year... and last year. I never 'got' all the nonsense about it being one of the worst airports in the world. Compared with where ? At least they don't require you to meander for miles between expensive perfume stands and racks of handbags... as per Manchester and others. I know Hong Kong airport pretty well, as I helped to build the place, and had a part in the promotional video shown prior to its opening. Nothing will ever compare to the old Kai Tak airport though. Mind-blowing experience landing there.
Thats all over now...DU30 said he`d kill the next scammer with an Uzi and then eat his Liver, washed down with a nice bottle of Kalafu.
Kulafu is the only thing in common between Duterte and my father in law. I've always thought that Kulafu would do well in Scotland; it's half way between Bucky and IrnBru!
