I did not make myself clear; this was long ago when my now ex wife was building a house for her parents; I knew the law of course. It would have been a good idea to put the two lots together.

I am now in the happy situation of having an adult son with dual nationality, so I don't have s problem if I want to buy land - we buy it in his name.

I have had two relationships with Filipinas; one started in 1991 and ended in divorce in 2010 and the other one started in January 2011. So I don't have much experience of Filipinas in general apart from my in-laws!

    Really?

For me it was fun to go and read it all again, Sean's opening post was excellent, true and very funny.

One will be followed around whilst shopping as if you are going to steal something. (my pet hate)
Any tips on how to stop this ???

No tips but it really annoys me too. My wife was once buying a few bags and we were "assisted" by 4 girls. Why?

I guess they are told by their managers and will lose their job if they don't. In my opinion it is a sales tactic used to pressurise you into buying. I actually wrote on the Watson pharmacy Facebook page about this subject today. I now tell the assistants that I do not need their assistance and when I do I will call you.

Yes, the assistants are (a) on commission and (b) told by their managers to keep a close eye on customers. They are also usually "contractualised", that is to say employed for less than six months because if someone is employed for more than six months they acquire some rights, so shop assistants are usually fired before that time. It is perfectly legal for employers to do this, and to specify that employees are to be female, under 25 and of "pleasing personality" (i.e. pretty).

Why would being "assisted" by 4 (usually pretty) girls annoy you?

I had to feign annoyance in front of Asawa

Seriously though I'd rather they paid them double the wages and be "annoyed" by just two.

The 6 month contracts are a discrace though. When i first eyeballed a job description specifying gender and age I was surprised

Nudge nudge, say no more.....wink wink;)
In addition to the unfair contracts, the girls usually need college degree to work as a shop assistant, or at a supermarket check out.
