After second attempt we got the visa yesterday, thanks for everyone's help here as this has been truly useful. What is the next stage in being able to work here? We are getting married in February.
You first need to attend the CFO seminar (if not already done so) and get the all important CFO sticker before you fly which is only available after the start date of the visa. Once in the UK you have to marry within the validity of the visa (6 months) and apply for your first FLR(M), it is when you have this visa you will be able to apply for a National Insurance number which will entitle you to work in the UK. You will also get the BRP when you have the first FLR(M).
Thanks Timmers, I'd completely forgotten about this! Where do you get the CFO sticker from, ie, can you get it at the airport?
You have to attend a seminar at the CFO and then you will get the sticker for the passport which will allow you to leave the country, see the CFO site below; http://www.cfo.gov.ph/
You have to book your CFO appointment soon. The last time I checked, the following two weeks were already booked. So I booked 5 weeks advanced.
