Yes just go for that. Get married here and apply for spouse visa. Save you money and hassle and time applying for two visas like fiance visa and FLR (m). :)

Well I'm in a same sex relationship so getting married here is not an option. Well we actually can but opted not to. Applied for fiance visa and still waiting for the decision. :like:

    Hello David.
We had an application for a visit visa rejected in September due to an incomprehensive application. Like yourself I was foolish in believing it would be an easy process but as it transpired we failed to give enough detail.
The good news is that our second application was treated as a completely separate case. We of course addressed the reasons for refusal and provided evidence to support the areas of doubt. We did go through an immigration lawyer which cost us £700 and although I deemed them to be completely useless they did give us a list of the documents needed.

One thing you should consider is making for sure each aspect of the application corresponds with each other. We had too many areas conflicting such as stating that 'I would support my girlfriend during her stay in it's entirety' in one section, and submitting that 'she would be providing X amount of money for living costs' in another section.
I do hope you can benefit from my experience, it is a massive desicion and one that should not be undertaken lightly.

    Yuri ☺️

That's probably the best thing you can do. For the mean time you can relax and just look forward for the wedding. You can also devote your time in reading posts here about getting a spouse visa. It will help you give some insight on what to to expect and what documents to get, what fees to pay and things like that. Best of luck ;)

I seem to be joining old conversations here but ... me and my now husband applied first for a visitor visa, we wanted to make sure he liked the UK before committing to live here. That was rejected with a really weak excuse so we just went for the fiance visa route. It costs way more than the £87 mentioned now. That entire process cost us around £6-700 I believe not including the flight. That was approved very simply, we were so careful to match everything up. Indeed, I sent a huge expensive box via DHL to him with every shred of evidence we had of our relationship. I almost felt sorry for the visa centre in Manila.

No one mentioned the documents the Philippine citizen has to obtain when they emigrate, they got to go do a day long seminar 'life in the UK' or something like that where they're warned about people trafficking and so on. Without the docket to say it's completed, they won't allow them on the plane. We had this issue, major panic and cost as I had to quickly arrange another flight for a few days later and then sweet talk the registration office here in Northampton because we'd gone a day over our appointment time. It all got sorted though.

The leave to remain visa was very simple, completed it all ourselves. Had to travel to Sheffield though as these places have wait lists. London would have taken too long for an appointment, Sheffield was just that little closer for us too. Booked into a hotel and made a short break out of it.

Couples who get married in PH first can certainly potentially have a much easier and cheaper time of it.

Golden rule, always communicate with each other in a way you can print out. Telephone calls are not really good, do Skype or Viber (or similar). Screen shot stuff, get the family in both countries involved. Do more than you think you would ever need and it should all work out OK.

Again coming into it late but going all the way back to the rejection, it seems to be saying that you haven't given enough information that would make the wedding viable in the timescale left. Was the wedding date six months away or 6 weeks away? My impression was that they didn't believe you could get married in the time left.
