Have you tried what they call karaoke mic? You only have to buy the microphone and plug it on tv with video in (or i think now its a usb plug). The songs and updates can be downloaded from the website. I forgot the brand used in ph. At least its not bulky.

Not sure if you can buy them here but amazon might have it.

Oh dear ... I did suggest you get K to bring a Magic Sing with her; I guess you or she forgot. Amazon certainly does stock one filled with 2,600 Tagalog songs but your and my definition of "cheap" may differ!

I did find a supplier of Magic Sing in the UK once upon a time but now I can only find very expensive imports, important to check the song lists as the memory modules are expensive, these things are expensive in the Phils as well the last time she bought one over there it was over 200 quid.

eBay might be your friend on this one!

In our case the Karaoke was usually mid afternoon and drunken, well not really takes a hell of a lot of San Mig to get me drunk but I digress, never had Karaoke or music going on after midnight except at New Year.

At that time of night for me it was usually Joanie Madden's 'A Whistle in the Wind/The Jug of Punch' blasting out over our subdivision, thrilling :D and then Ana would go for Vagabundo by Chico & The Gypsies which was equally great :)

A few times it was Ballavanich by Wolfstone which is also a heart rending moving bit of inspiring Celtic Rock :D

The Joanie Madden one is incredibly difficult to find it is not the similarly named piece 'Whistle down the Wind' it is a piece of divine Celtic music performed by an Irish American lassie on the Whistle.

Ballavanich or Bellavanich by Wolfstone (really crap video this one :))

and the wonderful Chico & the Gypsies : Vagabundo
