What do Most of the Filipino use to eat food? Hands? Spoon? or Chopsticks? It might be depend upon food, generation, religion or location but is this right? Village- Hands all the time Town- Spoon or Chopsticks Abroad - Cutleries at Restaurant but Hands in Home
See my fiancé is from the town but loves to use her hands I love it I find it so liberating but if not hands fork and spoon.
It also depends on the kind of food being served. In instances when one eats lugaw or rice porridge, one cannot use hands In PH, you can see people using their hands in boodle fights, where people share and mix--and yes, literally mix--their food and eat from a communal source, usually laid out on a banana leaf. You can also see it when people eat while theyre on the beach or doing some island hopping on boats. I guess the salt from the sea that stayed on the hands after a good swim just makes the food yummier? I dont know, but it adds a fun twist to the experience. People here in Ph use chopsticks only when we're in Korean, Chinese, or Japanese restaurants other than that, we use spoons and forks. Knives, not so.
If it is fish and rice my lot will often prefer hands at home although the kids are taught to use cutlery. If it is something l like Adobo or Menudo it is more likely to be fork and spoon but not always. I've always liked chopsticks and generally we will use chopsticks when in Chinese, Korean or Japanese restaurants as Mimies says.
It all depends on different factors like food served, place, people and preference. "Hands all the time" isn't isolated to just villages. Some people I know use their hands eating in urban cities especially when at home. In restaurants, some people prefer to use hands when eating chicken barbecues, shrimps, crabs, etc.
when I am over in the Philippines I do the same as anyone els dose in my wife,s family we use our hands but if we go to someones house or restaurants we use spoon and fork or chop sticks
