Thank you. Saves us the trouble of doing the payment separate. :)

A quick and probably silly question at this point: do we get our passports back once the appointment is done if we use premuim service for flr (m)?

I have an appointment set on wednesday for the flr (m) then we are joining the ph embassy outreach in manchester on saturday so i can register our marriage and extend my passport validity.

I am now concerned i wont have my passport for saturday (i havent thought of the possibility earlier).

Do you want your Passport when you see the Embassy in order to record a change of name?

If so, do that first, then apply for FLR (M). Incidentally you can apply for FLR (M) as late as one day before your visa expires (that's what we did...)

Yes you get the passport back same day, pity you couldn't have changed your name in your passport before applying for the FLR, would have saved you £243 for changing the BRP.

Okay good to know that timmers.

I know, any penny counts right now. But we still need to register the marriage which will take time so we decided to keep my maiden name then change it afterwards.

Hi @Methersgate , i only wanted my passport to be extended for a few months (if possible). We are planning to travel back to ph via stop over in dubai and UAE doesnt accept passport with less than 6 months validity.

I'll be keeping my maiden name for now as i've heard that registering the marriage in ph will take more than 6 weeks. I'll double check with the embassy on saturday on the best way around it.

When you say stopover in Dubai, do you mean that you will be in transit in Dubai or you will enter Dubai for a few days? If in transit they will not see your passport so the 6 month validity is not an issue. If you plan to enter the UAE you will need a visa in any case.

We will be in dubai for 3 days to meet up with some of our friends (mainly my girlfriends for long overdue ladies' night out, lol).

Yeah, visa should be sorted near the date (i think they still issue a 96 hr stop over visa if you are using emirates or etihad)

Then I think you should try to renew or extend the passport validity. Lousy weather in Dubai right now, when are you planning to be here?

I know. Some friends in RAK are saying there are 'some flooding' in certain areas. But i still like dubai weather when its less than 30C and sunny. Im in rainy scotland with snow forecasted in a couple of days.

Plan is around 6th of May. Hope i can get away once i start working (already booked my holidays even before i start work :))

Sorry had to ask additional question:
For items that i dont need duplicates of like a bank statement, some photos printed on a4 papers etc, do i still need to give photocopy of the said documents?

Our printer is giving us a hard time (the joke stating that printers smell your fear or know when you need them the most or in a hurry, decides not to work, seemed to apply on us right now). And our flr (m) appointment is set tomorrow at 9 am. So im trying not copy anything 'non-essential' stuff.

I know how frustrating it is when the printer is on the blink.

We never submitted wedding photos, marriage certificate does the trick.

Just make copies of the original documents that you want back, photos and stuff like that, doesn't really matter.

If you don't mind them not to be returned then it's okay not to provide them a photocopy.

    Just an update:

-Were at the premium service around 930.
    - Was called by someone to provide the originals.
-Waited around 30 mins for my biometrics
    - waited another 2hrs
Then its done! Im just waiting for my brp card to be issued in a few days!

They were super nice as well. And they did mention that folks from london actually fly out to glasgow for an easier appointment dates compared to croydon and then they make a weekend out of it as well. So just a tip to anyone who needs an urgent appointment date.

    Hi Everyone,

We arrived in the UK through fiance visa then applied for a spouse visa (2yr route). Our visa will expire next year and I'm looking at gov.uk and they seem to have updated the visa guidelines which is somewhat confusing for me.

Hoping you could help me with the following-

    1. Is it correct that we should be applying for FLR partner visa 5year route?

    2. Are we required to pay IHS again?

    3. Do I need to take the English Language test again? The IELTS test I submitted before has expired its 2yr validity.

    1. Yes you are on the 5 year route.
    2. You will pay the IHS again on the next FLR(m) application.
    3. If your test is at level A1 you will sit a new test at level A2 or higher.

We went to Croydon last may..12 o'clock appointment....Expecting to be out in 2 & half hours. Took over 5 hours...Nightmare. had to go by car because southern trains were on strike that day. Avoid the place!

Anyone heard of the need for an NBI certificate for the FLR? Tina worried she will need it and she is in Butuan later and can pick one up if required
    http://www.gov.ph/services/nbi-clearance/

Put this on another post but she is flying there now so any reply would be helpful

No, its only required for tier 4 student visas and selected nationalities who have to report to the police on arriving in the UK.

My wife did submit hers for the FLR because she had it to hand and I researched later that it is not required.
