A selection of snaps from yesterday's poorly-attended "Day of Rage" demonstration in London:

Never quite understood the need to make fun of people's spelling. It doesn't invalidate their message. Neither does the number of people in attendance.

I know this is the humour section, but what he posted is not very funny.

The post has overtones of the elitism that he professes to despise, this looks like someone looking down on those who are less able to express themselves as clearly as he would require from them.

My second daughter has symptoms of dyslexia, spelling is a challenge for her.

An additional point, I correct people's spelling and grammar sometimes but by god I have very limited excuse to do so, if you asked me the rules I would fail to give a coherent explanation 90% of the time, I was completely utterly lousy at languages, but I read a lot and in recent years I have written far more than I ever did as a youth, practice helps, but I still make a lot of mistakes and if I ever offended anyone through commenting on spelling or grammar I am sorry, you have my apologies.

(That last sentence of mine was too long by the way :D)

Well done, you've proved my (albeit unoriginal) theory! Faced with those photographs, those on the political left look for reasons to be offended whereas others simply see something that's mildly amusing.

I can see why you "identify " with MsMay your ideas of "mildly amusing " and hers are probably similar, run through any cornfield lately?

Haha got you do you realise on the 27 November in the year of our Lord 2016 you rated one of my posts "bad spelling"
Now I sleep like a baby over it....I wet the bed twice a night and wake up screaming for no apparent reason! You naughty naughty person.

I think it was a case of tit for tat. At the time, instead of politely disagreeing with me, a number of people simply marked my posts down for bad spelling. I was merely highlighting how unproductive that was.

i can live with spelling errors--in fact--some can be hilarious.

but those that deliberately use tx spk really get my dander up. if i can be bothered reading it--it can take several passes before i understand what they mean.

i dont no. du u no? no? no body nose.

Personally I like the misspellings. I think they add a bit of personal touch to otherwise uninteresting placards :)

@oss How old is your daughter? My partner is dyslexic but my normal friends actually show more signs of dyslexia lol. He attributes it to the work ethic he developed as a kid c/o his also dyslexic mom. He said it's critical that dyslexic kids pick up good learning habits as soon as they can.
