    Hey all,

Just wanted to double check before booking.

My wife came to the UK on a marriage visa in March. She sat the A1 english test back then. Now we are married, we will be applying for FLR. From researching, I believe she has to complete the a2 test now.

Can anyone confirm whether or not this is correct?

    Thanks!

No she can reuse the A1. I did. She will take the A2 (or higher) when she apply for second FLR after 2.5 years.

    Oh really?

It's not really that clear on the website.

    It is clear actually.

"Non-EEA national partners and parents on the family route will need to pass a speaking and listening test at level A2 in order to qualify, after two-and-a half-years in the UK, for further leave to remain on the five-year partner or parent route to settlement."

You will have to pass at level A2 or higher after being in the UK for 2.5 years. I just got my FLR last month from fiance visa and I used the A1. Same goes with my friends. :)

Cheers Brom, I just did a search after responding to your message and saw the home office post.

I did read the site containing the requirements but it didn't confirm that an a1 was sufficient for the first FLR but just that for the 2nd FLR u will need the a2.

Glad that we can reuse the a1! Saves me £150 :)

Hey guys, I have a Filipina friend that works as a domestic worker and has been in the UK for 6 years. Her visa states that she is a domestic worker.
She passed her Life in the UK test yesterday and now I'm not clear on the path forward to her gaining Right to remain, and then ultimately Citizenship.
Can anyone give me some advice.......like does she have to do a spoken language test?
    Best Regards
    Triumph.
