    Hello Brit-Fil People,

My husband and I decided to apply for a standard visit visa for me before we finally lodge in the Spouse Visa since we thought that seeing each other again after 6 years is a better proof that the relationship is existing.

Would like to ask more details on this. Do I really need to show enough savings and salary if we apply for this visa?? Or my husbands proof of income to support is enough??

Hoping to hear loads of info from everyone.

    Thanks,
    Dennie

    Hello and welcome

If your working, you have savings and are a house/land owner then you should have no problems applying for a visit visa in your own right.

Its all about showing that you have ties to the Philippines and will return there after your visit.

If not, yes your Husband can sponsor your visit and he will need to show proof of earnings, bank statements, etc etc.

Have a good search through the forum as there is plenty of valuable info on here.

Dennie is one of our original members DJB :) she's been a member for nearly 7 years, longer than me.

I wish her well and your answer is a good one.

    Hi Oss!!

That was funny! Though im a member for 7 years I have still not applied any visa yet going to UK. :)
Do you have any idea how much do I need to have as savings as proof evidence?? Or my husband income will support the application??

For the spouse / fiance visa, is it ok if i get the English test in the UK while Im there if the visit visa is granted?

I honestly don't know it is an unusual situation, with it being a standard tourist visit visa that you are applying for I think you need to provide the usual evidence that you will return to the Philippines, which means property, funds and any other evidence that you will return to the Philippines, given that the person you are visiting is your husband they might treat the application with more suspicion, I honestly don't know, sorry :(

There is the point that a visit visa is not all that expensive so it is worth a try anyway at least you will find out how they will treat the application and as far as I know applying for a tourist visa and being rejected should not affect any other future visa applications, so I think it is worth a shot to find out.

I am sure you are aware that you cannot change from a visit visa to a spouse visa whilst in the UK you will have to return home, you will need the TB test doing the English test and once youve got your spouse visa you will have to attend a cfo seminar while in the Philippines .

Visit Visa, as Oss says you will need to demonstrate strong evidence for returning home at the end of the visa,I think the cost of a visit visa is£87 or thereabouts so not really to costly. You need to show that you can support yourself for the duration of the visit and oddly sometimes they do not accept that the sponsor(your husband) will pay everything.

have you visited other countries while youve been apart from your husband? if so this will help show that you return home at the end of visits.

if I were in your shoes part of my good reason to return home is that "in the near future you intend to apply for a spouse visa to join your husband on a longterm basis ,why would you put at risk that application for a short term overstay"

    Hello Mattecube!

Thank you for the inputs! I was really planning to tell them that I am certainly planning to go back home "Philippines" so we can prepare with the spouse visa as our long term plan. I was even planning to tell them that we are taking the visit visa for the mean time for me to experience what it is to live in the UK for a short time especially spending a little time with my husband until we lodge in our spouse visa once I am back in my country. (I think all this should be written in the cover letter upon submission of the visit visa application), am I right??

I have been into HK and SG, most non-visa countries. Will this be ok?? But my passport with stamps of entry and exit has expired and I got a new renewed passport. Any thoughts on this??

Yes I am very much aware that I cant switch visa whilst in the UK under standard visit visa. My husband is asking me if there is a possibility that I can take the english test Level A1 in the UK under standard visit visa, is this allowed??

    Hello OSS!!

Thank you for the inputs!! Document wise supporting that I have strong ties with the Philippines Im ready with it. :) Im just curious if I can take the English test in the UK for the spouse visa and return here in the Philippine with my result and use them as my document certifying that I can speak and pass English Life Skills A1. Do the english test result have an expiry date / validity period?

You have it mapped out very well,in your application I would include your old passport so they can see you travel and return home, in communications to your friends I would talk about your plans to travel return applications etc it builds up a picture. English test, as long as the centre is on the approved listings I cant see any reason that the location matters.

Oh my... I'm worried now. I will also apply for a visitor visa this october for my winter holiday with my husband in the UK. I was granted a visitor visa to the UK last year but that time I wasn't married yet with my now husband. I have good travel history but now I am worried because we are already married and the home office might suspect that I will stay illegally in the UK. My husband already bought a return ticket for me (I know.. It's silly of him to assume that I will get a visa again). I will also be taking my IELTS test in Manchester and I emailed the British Council, they said it's ok to get an IELTS test on a visitor's visa. I just hope the application would be sucessful cus I already have a ticket.
